Automatic Transmission Programming

Is there a way to program the 6-speed auto to skip gears during upshifts? So you could go straight from 1st to 3rd without hitting second?

My dad says that he heard something about that being possible.

I don't know why you would want too.

it would cause alot of stress on the trans and would cause the motor to lug horribly.....

My truck got around fine with 3 gears and half as much horsepower...

Six strikes me as too much for unloaded driving. It does shift responsive enough to be palatable, but it still spends a lot of time shifting.

It'd probably save a bunch of wear on the bands. I don't see what you'd be severely stressing if you were unloaded.

I would like to know the same lugging=lower boost and more smoke:c:

ofcourse i know you are talking about a unloaded truck but when im towing my converter shudders when my pull truck is on my trailer. i have to keep it paddle shifted down to keep it from doing it. the h&s overdrive tune keeps it shifted down and adds line pressure. with 3.73 gears the tuner wont shift into 6th until it gets to 55 mph. i dont have the h&s though. if you could get them to build you a custom tune they could but they wont.
