Tire Air Pressure Light Problems

Could anybody explain to me how this thing is supposed to work? I have a truck that has the light stuck on. Tires are both aired up to over 60 PSI, and the light is still on.

Do you have to reset or calibrate the system somehow, or is it supposed to turn itself off? What pressure is it supposed to go off at? Is there a way to change the pressure?

Anybody have any problems with the thing?

look in your owners manual, should tell how to reset it, i know most vehicles have a reset.....

pull the fuse for the idiot lights if all else fails...who needs speedometers or all those other idiot lights? Drive by sound or drive wide open. I mean really...if I've got a tire low I see it.

A friend of mine had a Acura. His car got a flat, so he bought a new tire. The tire store installed the new tire and a new valve stem.

The valve stem in the Acura is magic, they had to dig through the dumpster to find the old valve stem.

For light load, you need to be at least 45psi rear and 60 psi front. I assume you mean the warning light on the instrument cluster won't go off. Here's what I did when mine lit up. 1. Air tires to proper inflation pressures. 2. Push the button on the dash to switch to heavy load, at which time the chime should sound. 3. Push the button one more time so the light on the button on the dash is on.( button lit up is light load) That should reset it. It did for me anyway.

This is a 4x4 '08 6.7 liter quad cab long bed.

I'll try pushing the button a couple of times.

On our 08 Nitro, the dang light comes on with as little as 2 # less than 'normal'...maybe it is doing it for overinflation as well. The owners manual should tell you, but see what the recomended pressures are on the drivers door and then see if your tires are at or above....2 # below on the Nitro and the light comes on....
