high idle
anyone know how to turn on high idle
|
On a manual transmission truck, you need to find the green wire under the dash (pto sensor), and ground it. This will enable the high idle, but it still needs the program turned on, by a dealer, or I think the Smarty can turn it in, too.
Then it is the usual, operated by the cruise control. |
I have a 2010 with a stick and i cant find the green wire, is there a way to find the wire because i dont want to get the wrong one.

Find the clutch interlock module ( plastic box at the top of the clutch lever), the green wire for pto feed comes out of the back of this module and is not visible until you move the wires. It is to allow the truck to run at higher RPM when a PTO is being used, but if you don't have a PTO, just crimp a ring terminal on the wire and ground it to the nearest screw. Same result. There is a tech write-up with pictures, try a search.

I went to the dealer and for 30 bucks it was done.:tu:

is the wire green with a brown strip thats got a black shrink on the end?
|
i bought a 2010 and the high idle kicks on mine by itself after it sits 5 mins
|
My 2008 the high idle kicks on when it's cold out and I let teh truck run for a couple min.. does it all the time, always has.....
|
It is the green wire with the brown strip and the black shrink end. Ground it , and have the program activated, and you have direct control of the high idle speed. You could run it at 1100 RPM for quick warm-up. You set it with the cruise control, and it will only go to 1500.
