High idle with E-brake

Okay so i started my truck this morning turned the high idle on and my exhaust brake, it sounded like a jet ive never heard it do it before, ever since that one time its not made that sound anymore?? is something wrong..i want that sound back!!:c:

Early cold morning mine used to do it all the time crank it high idle it and turn the eb on and you got it

ETXBlueRam 11-29-2010 07:37 PM

Some of that has to do with intake temp and ambient temperature. Above 60 something degrees at the intake air temp sensor, the exhaust brake won't always come on for high idle. Let it get cold and it will howl like an F-4 on the tarmac...especially with 5" straight pipe.

how do you turn on the high idle?

barkrulz 12-02-2010 06:36 PM

mine makes the same noise when it's cold and the exbrake is on, but doesn't always go into high idle. first time freaked me out. but after the brake actuated a few times (or temp was high enough) it stopped.

to turn on high idle you use your cruise control..turn it on then push set..if you push accelerate it lets it go up to 1500 i think

jdog78 12-16-2010 11:02 PM

u have to push set twice for it to get into mode.i do it in the morn.just to piss the neighbor off about 5 or 6.

wait on stock truck with just a chip this work??? what do you have to push twice?

jdog78 12-16-2010 11:16 PM

my truck is all the way stock.push cruise on then set twice and it will come off idle then u can run it up with the accel. button.got delete kit and a edge progammer, but waiting to change clutch before i put anything on.
