yellow engine light

My 07 has just turned exactly 12,000 miles and the yellow check engine light came on. I did the normal things to do what I thought cleared codes or lights.

Less then 24 hours after coming on, it is now gone. I have two months left on warranty and I am patiently waiting for Diesel Dawgs to get some more H&S's in at which time he has made me a package deal on pipe, filter, H&S, delete kit and rail plug.

Is this something that should concern me?

If it's under warranty take it to the dealer :c:

It's going back to the dealer tomorrow, I was fishing to see if there is anything I should be concerned about that the dealer might let slide as it only has a couple months left and the day my kit comes in the warranty is history anyway.

thanks

OK, took to dealer, they said they cleaned the egr and turbo. Drove approx 250 miles and light came back on, any ideals besides telling me to take back to dealer ?

Hopefully I will have all the crap off in a few weeks when my H&S comes in, but if it sounds like there could be a turbo problem, I should get the dealer to replace before I pull everything off and void my warranty. It currently has approx 12400 miles and I have about 4 weeks left on the 3 36000.

anyone that has experienced this, your impute would be appreciated!!

So dont take it back to the dealer let your warranty expire. If it were me I'd have it back there every time the light comes on untill they make it right. :c:

diesel pap 09-21-2010 07:10 PM

give luke a call now.:tu:

Appreciate the response, it is aw's like you that we send good people like me packing from this sight as quick as I found it.

I was asking for help specifically, if there are issues I should confront the dealer with before the warranty ran out.

It was a no brainier to take it back to the dealer, that must be why you said that. What I was fishing for, was maybe like, hey," you need to make sure they replace the turbo and don't let them tell you different because it is plugged up" or hey, "you have nothing to worry about, pull the crap off and move on, I have done it myself"

yeah just make sure dealer cleans the turbo. i didnt do that and it took awhile to get all the soot out after i deleted. :tu:

m1911a1 09-23-2010 12:28 AM

left it at the dealer today, I all but begged them to replace the turbo so it would be clean when I make the switch. They told me they had a pile of turbos in stock. I can only imagine dropping 48-51 k for a truck only to have it backing up over and over. Every time I go to the dealer there is someone dropping off a 07 or newer 6.7 because the light is on??

I searched for ever and ever to find a low mileage 07 and up knowing that as soon as I got it, I would be pulling the crap off it.

I am hoping Luke will come through this week with the H&S and numerous other items so I can install them with the clean turbo.

I could no more the idle through the bank and the yellow light would come on!

diesel pap 09-23-2010 04:16 PM

i know your truck will run good after you get the deletes.:tu:

My father inlaws engine light keeps coming on and off like that. It doesnt seem to make the truck run any different but sometimes its on and sometimes its not. Let me know if cleaning the turbo works!

Cleaning it didn't work. It didn't help that with only 12k miles it had been babied either I am sure.

Just got it back from the dealer, they installed a new turbo, new sensors and a replaced the egr stuff which I will be pulling off within two weeks.

I could tell the mileage went down when the light was on, at least on mine. I bought a 5 inch SS pipe, filter with scope, egr delete and H&S mini max from Diesel Dawgs with a rail plug and pyro. Not that it has a new turbo, I am going to try and get it on ASAP. I haven't met one person with a 07 or 08 that the light does not come on. That doesn't mean everyones will. However once they have done the deletes, life is good.

I'm having the same issue with my 09. Taking it back to the dealership tomorrow for the second time this week because of the Engine Light EGR code. What's the status on your truck? Did you get the light to stay off?:humm:

I had it in three times for the light, 3rd time, heres what the dealer sheet says

updated 02 sensors and heat wrap

replace both 02 sensors and tighten pins to turbo connectors

clear codes and re drive reset p2262

replace turbo - new turbo

basically they replaced the turbo, two sensors and the heat shield/wrap.

Tomorrow all the deletes are being done. Otherwise it would just be a round robin again and again.

Once they replaced it, I just parked it until we had time to pull all the stuff off, from what I understand, it should not be a issue anymore after that.

The guy at the dealership told me that there are 07's and up weekly and the come back often unless there pulling or working them. He says if the customer is pissed enough they just put a new turbo in and it gets them to stay away longer then a simple clean.

This is just my experience.

Good luck with yours!

if nothings going wrong with your engine and the lights still on just stick some black electric tape over it hehe.

turbo issues

I have had my 08 in the dealer 3 times this month for egr and turbo issues. 67k and now getting the egr cleaning process. I am being told that the egr system was plugged and the control valve needed to be replaced. Being out of state i didn't have any choose than to let the dealer do the cleaning. Now i am getting turbo erratic operations, some good boost and some times no boost. Engine brake operates normally most of the time and some times won't come on at all. I have been telling the dealer this, but with them seeing the issue or code they always say it is fine, ok. Being a tech and engineer for 40 years they don't believe the owner/driver. How do I convince the dealer the VGT is the issue? Marko

Ahamiam 10-23-2010 03:37 PM

My 09 with 14,500 miles. Third time in the shop in a two weeks span. Just got it out of the shop and they replaced the turbo, egr valve, heat wrapped 02 sensors etc. Demand it and threaten with the "Class Action Lawsuit". They will replace your turbo.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Forgot to mention. Jake brake was working occasionally and also, turbo totally gummed up. Engine light would come on and off. Regen message has NEVER appeared on my truck. You don't realize how bad your truck was running until all new turbo etc installed. WOW runs like new. FOR NOW :nope:
