the 4.7 has plenty enough power for that truck, that was a good engine the 4.7 and it has proved to be a reliable one also,an the gas mileage on it isn't to bad either, good luck.

what to do?

I have a 98.5, stock. I am looking to do a lot of driving/towing (9-12000 lbs). Would it be worth fixing the current truck or getting a newer one? I just turned 252000 miles. Any input would be great! I am looking at a '10 6.7 1 ton drw 4x4 for a good price with a 6 speed...

It all depends on whats wrong with your current truck if its a small little thing I say fix it and keep on truckin ,but if its something major I say go for the new truck only thing I dont like about the 2010s is the grill doesnt come up with the hood ,but the motor is awesome as soon a the emissions system is gone you will see a substantial increase in mileage anyhow thats my .02
