Need help w a code???

So i got the phantom overhead thing again..but this time Smarty found a code: P0513 Invalid skim key.
There was no cel..just the OHD saying see dealer now. Truck seems fine..cleared it and carried on...but can someone shed some light on what that code means....

Thnx

Not 100 percent but pretty sure that you get that from shutting the engine off without pullin the key out or opening the door, you'll be fine :tu:

Anybody else know for sure....

The invalid skim key is mostly due to using a replacement key without the FOB on it, basically meaning it knows the key is good but can't sense the chip in the key.

Is it a new key or one you haven't used in the truck for a while?

It's the same factory key I have been using...I guess Maybe it was a glitch? I just wanted to make sure it was What it Sounds like.

Prolly just didn't "see" the chip in the key .... I wouldn't worry about it.

P0513 is nothing to worry about. Most of the time, it comes up when you are cycling the key to pull codes...and try again too soon... or if you shut the truck off and restart it too quickly. It is a conditional reset code in that if, after X number of key cycles it doesn't detect anything wrong, it will clear itself.
As for the overhead saying see dealer, scan for codes with the Smarty, and even though it will say that there are no codes present, tell it to clear them anyway. That will make the see dealer message go away.
