oil intake side of turbo
is this normal?? I was putting in my peterbilt block heater and had to take the intake off. I then noticed a drop or two oil sitting intake side of the turbo right by the silencer ring. The fin's and intake tube that attaches to the turbo seemed dry. I'm going to the dealership tomorrow for some work do I need to bring this issue up??
Thanks, 6.7l cummins 07.5 |
Sounds like the turbo failed, or it's completely full of soot.
|
I did take it off 2 weeks prior to last night and in the same spot the oil is know there was black soot. I can still hear the turbo working.

maybe your diesel is like mine,my blow by gasses go thru a oil sperator, then into air intake pre turbo. With a heavy load it sometimes will leave oil there.I need to because of miles, refit a aircraft seperator. It can get bad to with tight valves(mine are adjustable).

anyone else seen this????
|
It is fairly normal to find a small amount of oil in the air pipe between the turbo and the intake It can come from blow by gasses or seepage past the turbo seal. If you are not having a problem with excessive oil consumption it is generally not a problem.

here's the problem: Crank case ventilation filter pluged up
here's the fix: R&R crank case filter Straight from dodge that's what they said. Soon as I got home I took the oil cap off and checked for blow by. There's next to nothing :tu::tu: p.s. didn't know we had a filter, and I wonder were it's hiding???? |
How do you change the Crank case ventilation filter? Also, when the egr is gone would this be required in the future?

Cummins Fleetguard part number CV52001 Dodge part number 68002433AB You should also be able to get the Fleetguard through your local Cummins dealer, or Geno's. I buy all my filters from the Kenworth shop here in town. MUCH cheaper than going to the dealer. Hope that helps you.
