6.7 DPF regen.

Do's something suppose to show up on the overhead, or a CEL light come on or anything show up when the pickup is going thru the regen cycle. I'm pretty sure mine is doing it, because the overhead will be showing like 16.5 - 17.0 mpg then all of a sudden the mileage will drop to like 12.0 -12.5 mpg for about 10 to 15 miles, then go back to normal. If it wasn't for me watching the mileage, I wouldn't even now it was happening. My rig is a 07.5 with the 6.7 I see some of the pickups show like % plugged, on the overhead. Mine dosen't have that feature. Thanks

2007 models do not have that feature. 2008 is the one with the message coming up on the overhead display.

I do not have it in my truck either.

CLINTD 02-11-2009 04:14 PM

no it wont tell you. the % Deal on the overhead is to warn you that it is getting close to full 100%. And that only kicks on at I believe 70%. I never saw mine % meter come on.

I got a new flash and they said it would show on the overhead when the truck is in regin, but I have not seen it show up and I have had 3 regins since the flash.

hm..i still cant tell when it goes into regen and ive had my truck for almost 5 months

What I was told is that there are 2 different regens, passive & active.
Passive doesn't say anything, but active does come up on the overhead. I can't confirm this because mine has never gone into active regen, at least not by those standards, but that is what the mechanic @ the dealer told me.

Sluggo 03-04-2009 12:53 AM

Ok maybe mine is not going in to regen either, But what else would cause my mpg's to drop so much? I can be running with cruise set, on flat ground, nothing different. Then out of the blue my mpg's will drop from 17.5 to 10 mpg , for 10 to 20 miles, then return back to where it was. If this isn't regen cycle..do's anyone have any ideas of what else would cause this? :pca1:

their's the passive regen, where you dont notice anything, it just gets hot enough on the highway that it cleans itself.
active regen, fuel is added on the exhaust stroke to raise egt's to 1400-1800F instead of letting the truck get there itself.
there is also the NOX cleanout where your egr opens completely and intake butterfly closes to help clean out the nox cat.
the last two really reduce mpg temporarily.

if you do a lot of short runs here and there, regardless of highway driving, the constant acceleration at stoplights and signs along with not letting your truck get to operating temp on those short runs and really function normal builds up soot in these trucks and you might see regen 1-3 times a week. now its not a full dpf so it only comes in for maybe 5-10 minutes but i saw it on my truck when i first got my edge and was only driving short trips.

MINE DONT SHOW ANYTHING ABOUT REGEN LIKE I WAS TOLD IT WOULD.

hey cdiesel how does your truck run with the edge over ts? i have the ts and ordered my dpf delete two days ago, the ts is ok but not what i have gotten out of other 100 hp tuners on other trucks. and i have seen the dyno results of just the edge which only put out 79 hp at the rear wheels over stock. thanks for any feedback:c:
