Engine brakes
Can someone tell me if the 2012 6.7 has internal engine brake ie "Jake brake style"
Thanks Jonathan |

Well mine didn't. I had to buy and install a PacBrake system, but mine is a Dodge cummins. My neighbor recently bought a 40ft 5th wheel travel trailer, which he pulls with his 2013 Ford dually with Auto. He indicated that his truck comes with "built in" engine braking ability, and the turbo is VGT and is capable of producing the back pressure necessary to also pull engine braking duty. Makes sense to me, but ya might wanna confirm that.
For some dumb ass reason I thought you were referring to the Ford 6.7. That's what I get for not using my glasses. Now, I believe the same applies to the 6.7 Cummins. |
lol thats ok mate ....Im going to fit a Pac engine brake not exhaust brake
I also now wondering if its worth removing the VGT and EGR exhaust manifold and replace it with the 5.9 manifold and upgrade the turbo |

The turbo is totally shot so its going to be replaced regardless due to a small engine fire that also trashed the loom but when I went looking for a loom they only show one ECM plug for the 2012 3500 but this one has 2 plugs on the ECM it also has 2 separate plugs going into the valve cove one towards the front and the other towards the rear about level with the end of the fuel rail so if im going to spend the money Ill put a none egr turbo and manifold on
