Default Radio trouble

I've got a 2010 cummins and my radio has got me stumped. It was working on and off for awhile then it just quit all together. Didn't bother me too much with the radio not working but then I let the truck sit for 3 or 4 days and the batteries were dead. They were on the verge of needing replaced so I did. Couple weeks went by then I let it sit again and it went dead once more. I noticed a ticking noise coming from the radio even with the truck off so I'm guessing that it is drawing power still and maybe a short? I ordered another OEM radio just put it in tonight and still doesn't work? Any sort of help would be greatly appreciated!

What trim level is the truck and radio is it? It may have the factory amp hidden in a he dash. Or you may have a short in the harness in the dash.
