Default How are the 6.7 trucks?

I haven't posted here for years. I parked my 01 after I bought an STI and recently put the 01 up for sale. I'm considering trading my STI off on an 09 Ram 3500 Laramie with the 6.7 and auto trans. The DPF is already gone, I haven't looked under the hood yet so I'm not sure what else is done. My question is how are these trucks overall? I had an 05 and hated it mainly because the wiring sucked and the tranny was garbage. I've also had a 95 and of course the 01 so I'm very familiar with the Cummins in Dodges. Any major issues I should look for? How is the 6 speed auto? Does it hold up to a little abuse with the addition of a tuner? What programmer do you guys recommend? I had a smarty for my 05 and really liked it, but I know the 6.7 is a new animal. Thanks in advance for the input.

I have had really good luck with them. I have a 2012 5500 overloaded since the day she came off the lot rigged as a bush mechanics truck gets used harder than any personal rig everyday got 90000 km on her and had a fan controller issue fan wouldn't kick in and Vgt turbo changed out as the controller quit running my exaust brake all stock on this truck. My pickup is a 08 3500 with 110000 km all deletes and an h&s mini maxx been holding up just as good run on tow mode no problems tranny shifts to soon and lugs used overdrive tune with mini maxx totally different truck. We also have 8 more of these trucks as crew truck in the bush same with them only one truck had harness issue the dealership ended up changing out harness and all is good.

Hi. New guy here. I love my truck. As far as the engine the 6.7 has done great with my tuner. I have the 6 speed manual and it needed a better clutch for the power but other wise it's been great. The only bad thing I know it I had a 07 which was the first year and I had nothing but problems out of it. My buddy has an08 and its all tuned up and he did have his auto rebuilt at 27000 miles but he was pretty hard on it. Hope this helps.

I love my black max tuner. Its maybe not the best way to make HP but it sure is easy. The truck does great as a DD and if I didn't pull such heavy loads and if I kept my foot out of it, the clutch might of lasted a little longer but it sure is fun and it loves to haul.
