I don't quite understand your question, are you saying it won't go in and out of tow mode? Is it a 68RFE? If so there is no manual gear change available its PNRD...Or are you talking about the 2w 4w 4wlow selectors...

nomadcattle 01-28-2014 01:11 AM

The toggle switch on the face of the gear lever ''should'' give you 6 thru 1 gear, click down, down shift, click up, up shift. Tow works, and is the button on the very end. Shifter switch is closer to steering wheel and faces you, Its neat when it works, just like formula one paddle shift, but totally different:)

It doesn't manually shift the transmission. It sets the MAX gear that the tranny will go into. It will still shift down as needed...it just won't go higher than you select.

yep, that's why I said totally different, Humor, it works just like all automatics , except the switch doesn't work, got to replace. But thanks, your hearts in the right place, peace/out

So the rocker switch was bad? I'm having the same problem.

yep, but the switch is part of the shift lever, whole assembly.

Thanks

Dang me too, was working fine then all of sudden it would shift down and not back up once it was in the manual mode. I'm guessing because holding the up button takes it back to drive. I had to put it in neutral and back into drive to get it out of the manual mode... Irritating.

This truck has me at my wits end, literally one thing after another.

What I did was replace the shift leaver it is only sold as one part and it was about 100 with shipping I bought it from Moparpartsgiant.com Part#5057438AC
It was an OEM part seemed to fix the problem been working great for about 5 weeks

Best of luck to you
