NEW DIESEL OWNER

So I have the intake, the 5" Exhaust, Edge with Attitude, which I thought was a good idea. I am now realizing that I will be using the Edge for additional gauges, and go with a Turbo back exhaust. So with the 5" DPF back pipe what parts am I looking for to go with the Turbo back exhaust without buying a whole new line?

Smarty tuner or is there another option out there?

Keep the EGR Valve and Cooler or scrap it all? I have read both sides, still undecided.

And lastly, is this all something I can do out of my garage without to much trouble?

Thanks in advance.

I say scrap it all! Find a tuner ( smarty, H&S, Efilive) that makes so u can remover the dpf and egr! There gettin harder to find with the FEPA!!:argh: but it should make it run totally different and last longer! Good luck!

So roll with a Smarty and buy the DPF delete kit from the Cat back or go to the Turbo? Does it even matter at that point? I have a decent connections on the Smarty Tuners, shouldn't run out anytime soon even though I hear the EPA has shut down production.

You cant get me files for smarty to delete your dpf and egr unless you can get a hold of a shop or somebody that has that file saved on their computer and can update your smarty for you. Check around for h&s tuner with the delete files installed, theyre hard to find but are out there. Your best bet is EFI live.

Thanks! Should I do the EGR Delete or leave it in? I can't imagine the soot build up is that bad after getting rid of that pain in the ass DPF.

with the way cops are checkin under hoods now might be better off to leave it on the truck, the tuner will have it disabled so it wont be affecting anything just might keep you from gettin a big fine

PERFECT - THANKS!

Im not sayin it makes alot of difference but my brother has a 2010 with the h&s system and when he bought it the dpf was done but the egr wasnt messed with and he had high egt problems and so we did the egr delete and that fixed the egt problem and totally changed his exhaust sound so i think it still puts resistance on the air flow but if yer worried about gettin in trouble for it thats up to u! Just sharing what i have learned:c:

Is it possible to do the EGR delete and leave the EGR intact? i have a guy that can do it, but I do not want to run the risk of the hood pop on a traffic stop.

MillerBoyzDiesel 03-06-2013 04:17 PM

the delete kits are merely block off plates and therefore very easy to spot especially when most of them are polished or powdercoated. If you absolutely had to take the cooler and valve and all associated parts out from under the hood I would try run a diff exh. manifold and intake horn. Most cops dont know what theyre lookin at but it would be easy to spot a couple of shiny plates under the hood sitting there in plain sight.
