H&S XRT Pro or Mini Maxx

If you're not going to delete the dpf I wouldn't run a tuner at all. From what I've heard the added fuel causes more soot clogging the after treatment system resulting in more regens. And I learned the hard way that even if you remove the tuner for trips to the dealer, of the look they will find the footprint. They can't see anything from the actual tuner but they can see how many times the ECM has been flashed and if that number doesn't jive with the records it'll throw a red flag.

That being said, I am VERY happy with my h&s mini maxx no problems whatsoever and great power. No matter what you decide to do you'll be happy.

Best of luck!!

^ this!

If you add all that fuel and timing without deleting the emmisons, you'll cause the engine to burn up.

I deleted my truck with my MIni Maxx, didnt hook up the pyro, and kept my stock parts do I could just throw them back on for trips to the dealer. One instance when I did just that they told me that they noticed an excessive number of ECM flashes on my truck and they had somehow stored the data and were going to look more into it. A few weeks later the pinion seal started leaking so I took it to a different dealer since I was working out of town and the service manager told me that my warranty had been "flagged" not voided but I was on the watch list so to speak and still made me pay to have the seal changed. So, at that point I knew my days were numbered. After that more and more stuff started getting denied on warranty like my leaky trans pan gasket they said it was "normal wear" I eventually got fed up with their crap and went all out and haven't looked back since.

Any fuel eco improvments when all deletes were done? :tu:

BigBlack2011 08-05-2012 11:18 PM

Slight. I'd say 2mpg plus or minus. Might be better if you can keep your foot out of it. Once I woke the truck up I have a problem keeping my foot out of it :P

Yes, but with a tuner, it's going to be tough to keep your foot out of it.

And i wouldn't use any other tuner but EFI live.

Yeah you and me both hammer down! Lol :rocking:

smarty or h&s has good results:hellox:

baddodges 08-06-2012 03:28 PM

Im getting 21mpg highway with the smarty jr.

I took my truck in for an inspection of the steering control arm on a warranty notice. The guy saw that I had put a Mag-Hytec tranny pan on the rig and he proceeded to lecture me in the parking lot about how this type of modification had now voided my warranty and my truck would now be red flagged and I would be getting a notice in the mail. So at 34k miles I did the mods and put on an H&S black maxx and didn't look back. I have saved enough in fuel to pay for the mods. And the dealer :moon:

Matty8251 08-27-2012 02:40 PM

Tuner

Smarty JR it is programed with dodge software so it is the only tuner that is untracable when returned to stock MAP. H&S is good also but I have read alot of sofware problems with them.

The true best tuner is EFI LIVE V2 with data logging for a true tune customized to your specific pickup. That is the best hands down. :tu:

As far as universal tuners H&S or Smarty get my votes.:c:

EFI Live V2

He's in a 2012. Efi still isn't out for the 2010+ trucks. Otherwise my mini maxx would be for sale lol

Another vote for EFI Live simple or complicated build its the best hands down. You can always go auto cal instead of V2 if you want to buy your tunes from a tuner

Not to bark but... not true Matty, I have a 2012 cummins and am running the Smarty Jr. that Marco loaded the software for and at the dealer they noticed the foot print!!! I am now doing the deletes as I have been flagged and my truck only has 10k miles...

baddodges 09-04-2012 08:17 PM

For economy id go with smarty jr. My buddy did the h & s and gets nowhere near the fuel mileage im getting even at similar settings

BigBlack2011 09-04-2012 09:58 PM

Mine gets about 15 in town and about 17 on the highway with h&s and I'm on a 6" lift and 37s I'm very impressed with it.

And as far as smarty not leaving a footprint.....

A few months back efI live was having a problem with crashing ECMs after they'd been previously tuned with smarty because smarty did not put all the files back correctly when ECM was returned to a stock tune with the smarty resulting in double tuned files so to speak. That's the main reason I'm not a 2010+ smarty fan.

Any tuner is going to leave a footprint just by their very nature.. a tuner flashes the ECM the dealer has a record of how many times they flash the ECM and if the number of flashes that the truck is showing doesn't jive with the number that the dealer showing it will cause a flagged warranty because the ECM has been flashed by somebody other than Dodge.

Bottom line if you can't afford to lose your warranty do not tune the truck because no matter what you do they will be able to find out that you had a tuner or whatever on it and your warranty is kaput

This is correct. They can't tell what you're doing in there, but they can see how many times the ECM has been flashed.

So if there is 2 factory flashes and the ECM has seen 10, you're boned.

How at forgetting an actual tuner and going with a fuel injection fouler ? Which plugs into the fuel harness leaves no trace in the computer and steinbauer performance and TsPerformance make model that that work well lots of guys stack these with other tuner types but its not nessecarry as they can add 50-100 house power by themselves . A good Towing option. :jump:
