DPF and EGR Delete

Hello,

I am new to the forum and to diesels for that matter, I have been searching for a little bit to find the answer I want but I can't find the right answer so I am making a thread.

I want to put in a H&S mini maxx chip and I know to do this with a efficient result I need to remove my DPF. But if I EGR delete what are the effects? Good/bad, harmful to the motor ect. What exactly does a EGR delete do? Should I do all 3 at once or is it okay to leave the EGR in with the chip and DPF delete. What would be the best thing to do for my motor to improve my MPG and get the power without blowing my heads, tranny, injectors ect..

Thanks,
David

Hi David,

I am in the same boat you are....so watching your thread!! I am new to the 6.4 and wanting to do something to increase the mileage. There are a lot of threads on the DPF and EGR delete, but I am very curious if I need to actually remove the EGR or just accept the fact that they seem to disable when using a programmer.

While people are reading here, is the Mini Maxx or Pro better and what differentiates the two.

Cheers.

Heath

Well I found the answer I was looking for. Due to some technical problems in the front end of my ford i was set back a bit so a friend hooked me up with a Superchips Flashpaq programmer. I have ran the max settings for tranny and performance and love it so far. It put the truck up about 120 horse and 250 ft lbs. sadly this has done nothing to my fuel milage. In order to get a real difference in your milage you will need to remove the DPF. This is the killer, the EGR delete kit is optional. Personally I will be putting in a delete kit strictly because my programer does not effect it at all. The H&S chips with the displays have all kinds of options and settings for the EGR.

Bottom line is The chip will only do so much to your truck. To get the full effect you'll need to do that DPF delete.

As far as the Mini Maxx or pro, I would say mini maxx. I say this because it has a setting in it to trick your DPF from turning on once it has been deleted, If your chip doesn't have the program your DPF will turn on and you will burn blue until you shut your truck off to allow it to reset it's self. Also a guy i work with ran a Pro chip on its maxx setting for a couple years. He drove the truck nice and easy even though it had well over 800 horse. NO blown heads or EGR valves or nything the whole time, the truck ran like a top. But when he went to sell it he stripped it down back to its stock form and the truck was so used to the chip on max the motor would not run in its stock settings. It was bagged to shit and had no power, hardly hit 20 lbs of boost and topped out at about 110 km/h. This was also a 08 6.4l f350 king ranch. Ever since I heard this story i have heard a couple like it so I went with a weaker chip 100% for the milage gain also that is why I say get the mini max, it has the bells and whistles just a lower max horse and foot lbs setting.

Hey guys, Both the mini maxx and XRT pro have DPF delete programming in fact the programming is identical one has guages and tunes on the fly-thats the only difference, My opinion, DPF delete definitely for both performance and mileage, EGR delete not worth the money and kind of a pain install for the gains you get on a 6.4. if it was on a 6.0 Definitely EGR delete! Hope this helps

I put the edge race evolution on yesterday and man did it open her up I am putting the delete pipe in tonight gonna see what it will do

farmrod 10-30-2012 11:50 PM

Delete both the truck will thank you when you do the egr delete do the elbow and cac pipe at the same time

You can adjust timing with Mini Maxx.

The egr delete will not do much for performance. It's just insurance against a motor full of coolant when the cooler fails.. And the kits are less than 100 bucks.. I ended up going with bulletproof coolers.

Hey Guys Im Running a 2010 F350, I bought the truck with with all emissions equipent in tact. 13 mpg. 2 Days after my purchase the emissions crap came off. keep in mind its there for a reason:w2:. I did an egr delete, dpf delete, hot pipes on my intercooler, installed the mini max, I now am capeable of 22 Mpg if i drive it saine. and them figures are pencil to paper, not the electronic display on the dash, which if used correctly aint to far off either. so the potential is there to get the good fuel milage you hear about. since then I have Pulled the cab and done max power turbos from elite, arp head studs, and a snow performance water met kit. aint been able to check the milage per gallon i get now due to a 37' toyhauler that wont get off my ass:tu: hope this info was helpfull.

I did the dpf delete as soon as i bought the truck. (08) helped milege about 1-2mpg, drove it a year then the high press. fuel pump, injectors, oil cooler, cold side cac pipe, and egr delete. This thing still wont get over 13mpg. Do all the deletes, but don't expect miracles.:td:

Stackable DPF Delete Chip for Edge CTS Tuner

Does anyone know if there is a stackable chip for the Edge CTS to delete the DPF(CTS will not do DPF Delete). It turns out that eventually the active regenerationn on the 6.4L becomes in-effective after awhile and you have to take the DPF off and have it professionally cleaned which runs about $500. I am ready to remove the DPF but dont want to have to upgrade my tuner. Does anyone know if you can stack onto the CTS and if so what can i put on it?

lukesdiesel 05-13-2014 11:53 AM

Sale the CTS and get a Mini Maxx or Spartan

I have the H&S XRT PRO on my 2008 F-250, make sure it's the race model, so you can do the DPF, EGR, & CAT deletes:tu:

thank you .. thank you.. thank you..

cavusbarnss 05-30-2014 12:30 PM

they ve already gut it..I think the previous owner , he did it..I cant believe this .. so why I had white smoke and , cleaning exhaust filter warning on odometer ? he pluged the sensor back to cannister ? is that why ?? I retuned my truck , and I was gonna replace the dpf , and I realized that they gutted it , they ve already took inside out of it.. now the question is I left the cables unplugged ,tied them ..but the guy on youtube he connected the egt sensor back to the straight pipe..mine is not connected now.. I did not put a straight pipe because the cannister already gutted...should I put the egt sensor back ?? and also the transmissin is alittle different .. should I wait for transmission ?
