question

How much boost do you guys pull on your 6.2 and 6.5's? Is your guys compression the same as the fords 21.5:1?? I read somewhere that some people pull 16-22 psi with aftermarket parts but don't lower the compression... I knopw the 6.9 & 7.3's can handle 16-18 with studs but after that comp needs to be lowered. I would like to learn lol

I wouldn't go over 14psi with a 6.5 but I have seen people go higher than that. The compression ratio is the same for the 6.5 as the 7.3.

x2 what he said. theres guys that run more than that but your on borrowed time if you do. takes a well balanced and well built 6.5 to handle more than 16 psi on stock compression reliably. lowering the comp ratio isnt the best option too. takes a lot of effieceny out of the engine unless your running drugs.

Geez. Shows what quality will buy you. Many people regularly pump 30psi boost into MB's diesels with bone stock internals and can get more power than even highly modded GM 6.5L engines. If GM's engines could handle the same, you'd be making over 650hp with only external modifications!

Many 3.0L engines have been making over 500hp on the stock 22:1 compression!

bill heath has a 6.5 truck running at bonneville that does 150 hp and makes 500 hp running 22.5:1 compression 35 psi of boost and at the same time doing this at 5000 rpms. only internal modifications are a scat crankshaft, main studs, and head studs. how about that for toughness. there just not built very well from the factory but with a little improvement there pretty tough. high boost numbers from the stock charger arent reccommend due to all the backpressure and drive pressure it makes once you turn up the wick.
