6.5 mods

I have a 6.5 that i am going to put into my 86 one ton chevy. I want the engine to run great, be reliable(daily driver), and be able to have power or blow smoke. I know its not a cummins or duramax, but i want it to have power. Im not on an infinte budget, either but will consider reasonable upgrades. I know that there are plenty of other threads on 6.5 bombs, but the difference is that my engine is a 1993 and has a manual injector pump not electronic fuel injection. thanks in advanced for any tips or information.

Turn up the pump, turn up turbo, 4" exhaust, head studs, main studs, fluid damper, gauges.

I have a 98 6.5 that I am putting 6.2 prechambers in. I haven't finished it yet but from what I have read it improves fuel economy and makes more bottom end power with them.

sounds easy enough, ill try whatever i can once i get the engine in the truck

Yea it's not to bad. The one thing I would do is put main studs in it before the engine goes in. And buy gauges before you turn it up.

the stock turbo makes a lot of backpressure so if you have the $$$ i would upgrade to a A Team Turbo

The stock turbos suck on these things.

only thing i can find good about them is there is almost no turbo lag. makes a good city driver

I am also curious about the A-team turbo....I only found one article about it online.

What size is the actual turbo, Im used to cars so like T3, T4, T67, ok not the last one, lol

are there dyno proven results?

I wouldnt mind spending the money if they can prove 25 hp or something...

And you never hear of them coming apart from over spool. I guess it's cause any time you are in them there over spooled.

I don't know the specs on the A-team. From what I have hear that with one and a ecm the 6.5 preforms like a late 7.3 psd.
