too show how bad ssds is it cost me 5k to rebuild my motor after a marine injector tip blew off. thanx ssds. and as a way too go give dave kennedy a call. Im not saying hes better than Heath but he is cheaper and his parts are lasting.kennedydiesel.com but you cant go wrong with Heath diesel. they have the right parts for your 6.5 and they know what they're doing. and there chip gave me 75 more HP I was blown away. but anydody besides ssds is great.:dang:

I'll assume you turned the pump up when you installed (or somebody did) the Banks. After that, nothings free. The Banks exhaust is about as good as your going to get and your not going to put more than 10 psi through the turbo. Now, if you want to spend some cash you could mount a Holcet turbo on the Banks manifold. Its a custom job and not easy but you can get 35+psi. Of course, if you do that you need head studs and crank girdles. Fact of the matter is your never going to get more than about 330HP out these 80's technology engines (and that is with a fair bit of work!) Most folks are happy with the Banks Turbo kit. Decent power, reliable, easy to install. If you want too much more than you have, your going to have to move up the technological ladder to a Cummins, Dmax, etc. Good luck!! |
Hi guys have been reading a bit about these engines as i have a early 6.2 chev with mecanical fuel pump in a extended hj75 toyota ute what i would like to do is have one built in the states and ship it out to australia, you guys seem to have alot more knowledge about these motors than people i talked to hear an i would feel more confidant traveling into the desert knowing that i have a engine built by people who have had a life time with these motors .Where do i go and who do i contact any help would be much apriciated thank you .

Free mods would be to remove the snorkel out of the fender if it is still in there, that's a big one. Also, open the entry point into the airbox a bit.
If you want to go huge, just ask! |

he is just talking about a regular old holset hx-35 turbo. there cheap but they contrbiute to high cylinder pressure which can cause blown head gaskets unless you lower your comp ratio

a nice add to the system is propane injection - it lower egt's,increases mpg 1 to 3 mpgs
& you can run it when you need it - run full time it uses 1 gal propane to 10 gal of diesel roughly |
