After EGR removal throwing low oilp code

Ive deleted my EGR on my 05 6.0 and after my work i am throwing a LOW inj PRESSURE code p2290. The only thing i did while my Turbo was off was put an O ring on the pipe that leads into the bottom of my turbo. Where do I start?
Clueless:scare2:

check to make sure it has oil

Philwormdirt 07-05-2012 06:24 PM

It definetly has oil. I apologize its low injector pressure p2290. It runs incredibly good (except when cold) since the SCT tune. When passing long lines of tourists here in montana the p2290 code pops up. Ive got to go 250 miles this weekend and am unsure if its okay. Im just wondering where to start and if it will be safe to run.

That's actually injection control pressure too low. Could be a clogged IPR, a dying ICP sensor, a small leak starting in the high pressure oil system etc.

Tough to say, I would probably drive it myself, but can't gaurantee you're not going to have issues.

Really need to get it hooked on to a monitor so you can watch ICP actual against ICP desired, and IPR duty cycle.

If anything, if you have the time before your trip, pull the IPR valve and inspect it. See if the screen is torn on it.:pca1:

P2290 injector pressure low

Would my SCT be able to monitor ICP in data log? It should be noted that the O ring I put in the tube under turbo wasnt as heavy duty as the one i removed. I havent smelt any oil and she seems to run great (unless of course its cold, then she doesnt run so good). Tha:hellox:nks for the reply

This is high pressure oil, the turbo drain has no effect on that.

The cold running issues we can probably fix as well.

Yes, the SCT's can, you'll need laptop, and you need to download the latest version of SCT's livelink, and then you'll need a standard USB printer cable to connect the SCT to the laptop. You should be able to monitor ICP desired, ICP actual, IPR % duty cycle. We need those three things. Try getting readings around idle and then driving. ICP desired and actual should stay right near each other, and when you got WOT, they should go up near 4000psi.

Do you know if this truck has any of the updated components for the high pressure oil system? Like the STC fitting? Dummy plugs or the stand pipes? Does it have any issues starting when it gets hot?

Im Unaware of any other Mods done

I bought this rig in 2011 from a fella inis Ohio. New FICM (which I tested and its good) at 95000. Its got 123000 on it currently. I have never messed with diesels except when in military years ago. This has been an interesting experience so far. I was having problems with it until it would warm up. It felt like a miss and would occasionally chug. Most of this seemed much better after delete. It never ran the p2290 code prior to my wrenchting. Im a bit overwhelmed at this point. I will attempt to mess with her this weekend if i get the chance.:argh:

may have your ipr plugging up..they have a screen on them to keep debri out of it ..i have seen them plug up.. its some what of a pain to pull them of on the older 6.0 that had the icp sensor mounted next to them,,but yours shouldnt be real hard.just something you might want to check...good luck

Yeah it definitely wouldn't hurt to pull that IPR valve to check it out.

This site has a ton of good reading material fora 6.0 newbie... DTS Articles

and download the coffee table book for you truck, priceless material there: DTS Articles - Coffee Table Books
