No expert but I always let my truck idle a minute before shutting off, easier on motor, im instalking pyro soon too to have better idea, I looked at buying a turbo timer but ladt wk my auto start/ alarm fried so I ordered a new auto start/ alarm for diesels with a turbo timer that you can adjust for 1, 2 or 5 minutes! Shipped to my door for 280$ retailed for 700$ on sonic electronics site.
Auto start, alarm, and timer great deal I,figure will let you know how it works

I've never have used a turbo timer & i've never had turbo problems I sold my 1999 F-250 with 141,000 miles to a friend & his truck was stolen & total with over 189,000 miles & it still had the factory turbo, My 2008 F-250 has 50,550 miles on the turbo & is running fine, I do let my truck idle for at least 30 seconds before I turn off the engine, if I hotrod my truck I'll give it at least a minute of idle.
