Which tuner to get?
Ok guys so Im open for sugestions here as to what will work best for me based on experience from you guys.
I have a 2006 F250 bone stock as of right now. It has 94k miles on it. My plans are to get a tuner, air raid intake, and a Smoker single stack turbo back exaust kit. This is my everyday driver. I have no intentions of racing it. I just want to add 100-120 hp or so to up the performance a bit and possibly add a few mpgs. Im also nopt wanting to spend a fortune either. MY initial thoughs were an edge evolution..but ive been seeing lots of mixed reviews on them. So what do you guys reccomend tuner wise for my application? |
dont bother with the intake for that power level. SCT and whatever straight pipe and a good custom tune from Quicktricks or GoGo or Elite or whoever tickles your fancy and youre there.

I'd recommend a SCT with tunes from GoGo or Innovative Diesel. Let me know as we carry GoGo Diesel.

SCT with tunes from one of the following
Eric @ Innovative Diesel Doug @ GoGo Matt @ Gearhead |
If i was to go with a stock module with a budget under $600 what would be my best bet i was thinking the sct livewire vs the edge evolution... and can I always send the module off later to add custom tunes?

SCT hands down for the 6.0

You can't get custom tunes on an Edge.
You don't have to send the SCT anywhere, you call up one of those guys we mentioned and tell them you want a tune, they'll email you a tune, you load it on your SCT device, then load it on the truck. It's quite simple. If you ever add any more mods down the road, like a turbo or injectors, you're going to need an SCT anyways to tune for those mods. Edge is a generic tuner... it basically tricks the PCM into adding fuel and timing. Which could be dangerous. It also doesn't really do anything for the transmission. SCT is thee only way to go IMO. |
Live wire or TSX???

Live Wire, if your budget is $600. In fact, gauges should be the first order of business. I like my Scan Gauge II with Auto Meter for EGT and fuel psi.
Live Wire supports custom tunes, but I've heard about issues with the blue tooth version, get the OBD II version instead. |
