Intake

Does anyone have experience with the AFE Bladerunner intake manifold? Are the gains worth the money? I'm also looking into the Stage 2 Si aFe Power Magnum FORCE Intake System, does anyone have experience with these? If the stage 2 intake performs like they advertise then it should be a good one. I'm considering picking up both of these items, but not extremely sure of the intake manifold. They also sell a package that includes an CAI and the intake manifold, it's a different CAI than I listed above but it claims to have the same power gains. Any comments on these two products would be greatly appreciated!!

What other mods do you have?

Mud digger 01-08-2012 06:34 PM

This will be my first (just picked the truck up this week). There is a long list of future mods (within the next year) that are going to be bought for it, Exhaust, EGR delete, head studs, SCT custom tunes, possibly injectors and turbo, coolant filter system and maybe a few others that I can't think of off the top of my head. I'm thinking I won't see any gains with the intake manifold, but I figured I'd ask anyways. I also have heard that CAI's are only needed when you have over 500hp, I have all intentions on pushing 500+hp when all finished.

By the intake filter last. An intake elbow will help airflow and for the cost is fairly cheap in the big scheme.

You're talking about the intake elbow, not the intake manifold. You can get the intake manifold modified too, it's one of the best things to do to the air side, as it sits stock, it's the biggest air restriction in the entire system. They run ~ $1200.

Intake elbow is a waste of money.

Actual intakes... AFE makes really good products. Stock is actually really good too.

the best bang for the $$ on a stock truck is a good turbo back exhaust, this will give you the most noticeable power increase untill you put a tuner on it.

A modified intake manifold (GOGO Stage 1) works beyond expectations for improving airflow.

I bought a Banks Technicooler with the larger plumbing and elbow, let's just say that I am glad that I bought it used for $500 not the $1500 new. Granted the charge cooler will only show its worth under load (like a big radiator in the family station wagon), the larger plumbing made no seat of the pants changes. I don't know, maybe when I stud it, get some huge injectors and a monster turbo it will be worth the money. :lol88: Like I'm gonna dump that kind of money into my truck, EVER. :lol88:
