Turbo Blanket????
What does a turbo blanket do exactly? I've searched and read alot the last couple of days on turbos, injectors, install and just ran across a thread on another site about this and am curious....

Supposed to help retain heat allow for better spooling. Your better off ceramic coating the exhaust manifolds, Y-pipe, EGR up-pipe, the turbine housing and the down pipe.

Exactly, just holds heat in. So it keeps less heat under the hood, and more on the turbo itself. I find it hard to believe you'd even notice a difference, and they're not really cheap. I know if I bought an aftermarket spinny whirly thingy, I'd be showing it off, not hiding it under blankets!:c:
Ceramic coating has been around forever and I think I'd go that way too, that is also quite pricey though. Beware of shops that coat the outsides of parts too. Cermaic coating exhaust pipes should be done to the INSIDE of the exhaust section. |
Thanks guys, I'm gonna pass on the blanket. :c: Maybe I'll coat stuff next year.
