SCT won't connect to computer?

I have been trying to get a friends SCT X3 hooked to my computer to put his custom tunes in it but everytime I get a Transfer Failed WD_TIME_OUT_EXPIRED pop up before I even do anything. I had no trouble putting the tunes in my livewire when I done it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Try reloading the sct disk that comes with the tuner, if that doesnt work go to sct's website and click on tech support. It has a list of common questions that people ask and it takes you step by step through it,that helped me figure out how to do it.

Get the latest version of the software from SCT's site.

What operating system are you using? Is it 32 or 64 bit? I remember I had a ton of issues getting my X-Cal2 hooked up using Windows Vista...

I've tried it on my old xp laptop and my windows 7 desktop with the same results. I even deleted everything to do with sct off the laptop and reinstalled with the disk that came with his X3 and had the same results. I think I'm going to try to get ahold of sct tomorrow. I'm just wondering if the drivers aren't installing right. I guess I shouldn't say its not connecting to the computer because its powering up, its just that the updater program doesn't recognize that the sct to is connected. It keeps saying to connect my device and if I select anything I get the error code mentioned in the first post. Thanks for the responses guys. I'm all excited to try out these Gearhead tunes on his truck to see how they run so I can make up my mind what I want to get next after I get the Powermax and studs in.

Yeah I had this issue before too, it's just the computer not recognizing the SCT. For the life of me I don't remember how I got it resolved. I didn't have this issue with XP though, only VISTA, I think I had to right click on the install drives and go to properties and select run as administrator or something along those lines...

If you go to SCT's forum, there is some good info there too.

I haven't had time to mess with it lately. Thanks for the info about the sct forum Mdub, I didn't even know they had one. I have been wanting to call them but haven't had a chance yet this week.

Yeah, they're pretty helpful on the phone from what I hear.
