3rd Gauge
My girlfriend bought me a triple pillar pod and I have no idea what to put as the 3rd gauge. I'm doin' EGT and boost. The truck is a stick so there's not much need for trans temp, and my water temp in the dash is fine so I don't need that.

Fuel pressure no questions asked hands down, every 6.0 on the planet should have one.
Next two gauges should be coolant temp and oil temp. |
fuel pressure is a good one also may wanna think hpop just so u can keep an eye on that incase it goes out. but thats just me

Fuel pressure... And FYI, if the HPOP goes out... the truck shuts off. Oil temp, Coolant temp, Diff temp... you can go on and on... |

I actually just checked the list of gauges he posted he had on PSN, he doesn't have an HPOP gauge! Must of run out of room in the cab for gauges? lol. |
Kinda like what I was wantin' to do eventually. Have Oil Press, Boost, EGT and Water Temp on the A-pillar, Fuel Press, Fuel Level tank 1 and Fuel Level tank 2 (once I put the twin tanks in) right above the rear view mirror, Volt and Trans Temp in the steering column

http://inlinethumb55.webshots.com/23...600x600Q85.jpg Ran it for quite a while, but just a stand alone HPO gauge does not really tell you that much. And if I dont have the gauge installed in the dash I want, I can reach into the back seat and grab one of these... http://inlinethumb58.webshots.com/42...600x600Q85.jpg This is what I use for a HPO gauge, it gives me more information then just a HPO gauge will give me. Duty cycle is a HUGE part of HPO. http://inlinethumb57.webshots.com/10...600x600Q85.jpg

not to correct u and i may be wrong but i was washin my truck one day (before i had the gauge) truck started to idle funny and act wrong all around. made it 2 miles and the hpop went out...now having a gauge may not have helped me but i still think its a good one to have once u have ur top 3 or 4
Just asking, because it is VERY rare for a HPOP to break. |

Fuel pressure, EOT, ECT and EGT if you got any kinda of custom tune or havey towing.
|
I was told that fuel pressure gauges fluctuate so much that they wear out the sending sensor? And what is EOT and ECT?
And can anyone tell me how hard it to hook up pyro, boost, and a scan gauge? |

And can anyone tell me how hard it to hook up pyro, boost, and a scan gauge? That's just dumb. Get a fuel pressure gauge. A gauge wont wear out the sending unit, but pressure spikes might. The sending unit is sending signals to the gauge, not the other way around. EOT is engine oil temp, ECT is engine coolant temp. Two very important gauges for a 6.0. Pyro is pretty easy, just have to drill and tap the drivers side manifold, you can do this really easily under the truck, tons of room to do it actually, I've posted pics all over on here of where I drilled and tapped mine. Boost is stupid simple, you can either drill and tap the intake elbow, or use a "T" in the map line, which is cake. Scangauge just plugs into the OBD port, so that's the easiest of them all. If that's what you're referring to... |
That clears alot up. Thanks
