new to diesel and have questions
ok im new to the diesel world. im already obbessed. i have a 2006 Ford 350 6.0, 6 inch lift, 35in toyo, 20in rockstar rims. i need some help on diesel performance. i know the older people dont like to have thier truck smoke but i want mine to smoke and i need help on how too. my friend has a dodge and it pours out smoke all the time. id like for my truck to at least smoke a little.

i am sure you can get a tune that can dump more diesel so it will smoke more
the best bet for performance would be a tuner SCT seems to be the hot set up also for performance look at a pipe cat back system Banks is good:hellox: |
While I disagree with the "wanting to smoke" (as will most people who give a damn about the sport), a custom tuned SCT is the programmer you want. They can make your truck do just about anything you want it to do.

dude thats the wrong question ta ask lol, youll get alot of hate now,:w2: and dodges are known for smoke thats just what they do, but places make tunes that have a "smoke show" tune on them, but any chip or programmer will help,

ok well what can i do to make it louder
|
bout the best thing you can do is go 4inch from turbo back with no muffler or cat, then have a 6 inch tip, just pending on what you like, you can get turbo wheels ta make your turbo louder, like wicked wheel, theres a bunch of them for that.

Before doing a tuner you should really rip into the heads and do arp studs and new head gaskets. Plus egr delete. Otherwise it's easy enough to hydrolock these 6.0 motors. It's not a question of if or when your gaskets will start to seep. If you add a tuner, it WILL start lifting the heads. Save yourself the hassle of putting a new engine in and do the supporting mods before the power mods.
I agree, it's not about making your truck smoke, it's about making power. If you want smoke, take off an intercooler boot. Smoke does not mean power, and that will prove it. The reason the new diesels have so many emissions related parts on em is because of the guys blowing smoke everywhere. It looks bad on us and our hobby. Do the diesel world a favor and keep the smoke out of the sight of the public... |

My 6" mitre stacks are quieter than my straight piped stock exhaust was. It's definitely a deeper tone and it's much louder in the cab, but it's still quieter on top. Any straight exhaust without the cat/muffler and a tuner will make it scream though! straight piped 6.0's have a wicked sound to them.
Your buddies Dodge smokes a lot because they don't have the luxury of custom tuning like we do. My race tune cleans up well with just a light haze under WOT. It will dump a little cloud, but once the turbo lights up, it's cleaned up really well. You can get tunes with a little extra smoke, I have one, but it's not as powerful as my "good" tunes. |
your the second person to tell me to get better gaskets before a tuner. the egr delete is around $1000 i heard. thats kinda expensive. where could i have my cat and muffler removed and add this turbo back at? a muffler shop or a diesel mechanics shop
