Cold air intakes
ok guys,, just need to know which one of the cold air intakes out there are the loudest?? dont care about hp, or whats good for the truck,, 2005, 6.0 power stroke diesel. thanks.
I would guess teh AFE stage 2 would be since it has a open box and a huge filter.
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- If you really don't car about the truck don't run a filter!:hellox: |
That sounds completely ignorant, so here's an ignorant answer....
No filter. |
why cant anyone on these sites answer a simple question. I made it short and sweet, so i wouldnt have to explain why i wanted it. I know everyone will say,, its not good for the truck,, i know everyone will say,, you'll never get the hp that it claims. I know all that already. and ofcourse i care about my truck.. i just asked a simple question in hopes someone that has used these things before would help me. No biggie.. i'll just buy all of them and find out that way. I far as this being ignorant,, to hell with you.. i'll go back to the other site.
im pretty sure they all sound the same.. just dont get a boxed air filter.. there all over ebay....about 300 will get ya a nice one....... but you can always can go "no filter" :c:
Do you want to hear the intake or the exhaust? Seems to be easier to remove the cat and muffler.
already have 4" mbrp, straight piped.. no cat/ no muffler. i've heard louder,,just trying to dupilcate a certain sound i've heard..
If its the whistle you are looking for, you want an 03 turbo.
not really looking for the whistle,, i have plenty of that. I"m really just trying to duplicate a truck i've heard before. interested more of maybe a "growl",, than a whistle. maybe the intake is not what i need. I may be going in the wrong direction. thanks.
not to be a dick to ya man but when u come on the site and say i dont care about whats good for the truck u started with the worst thing you can say. thats y ppl are calling u ignorant. as for a good intake i like my afe stage 1 dry flow bc i drive through mud and much and it keeps that stuff from rolling under the hood and onto the filter. filter choice is really dependant on what u want to do with the truck. in my case i needed a closed intake. in your case an afe stage 2 could be perfect
well, ya know man, i guess it was kind of an ignorant statement. And i did that cause i guess i let my attitude carry over from another site. that site road my ass for 4 pages about how it was bad for the truck, why did i want it, and how stupid i was for even asking. So to save yall and myself from all that, i just asked it the way i did. Since i felt like if i wanted to trash my truck, it was my business. After all, if you look at the way i asked it,, is it really anyone's else concern why i wanted it. Hell, maybe i wanted to grow flowers in it. Anyway,, i do thank you for your reply. Im just want to get the correct one.

2004-2007 Ford Power Stroke 6.0L Cold Air Intake - Ford Power Stroke Cold Air Intake
they seem to make noisy intakes for the cummins powered trucks, not sure if it'd be the same for the 6.0 PSD, but you never know |
i am running a 4" muffler on my truck and have a good growl, good whistle at lower rpms too, but higher rpms it is a super nice sound
You're just not going to get a "growl" out of an intake. Not on a forced induction motor like this, all you hear is turbo spooling. I will say, the 03 turbos sound wicked on these trucks and will make your ears bleed.
To answer your original question, I doubt any of them are going to be noticably different as far as noise, other than a sealed filter box vs. open filter. Open will be louder, but I'm sure you've been told already will produce a lot less power. |
S&B!:tu:
I'm running a stock intake plus Zoodad mod and a 4" downpipe with nothing behind it. Very deep throaty tone but also at the same time a lot of turbo hiss. That might be what you heard
