Default River City Diesel EGR Delete???

i was wondering if anyone had this on thier truck im going to be buying a egr delete kit and i want to go with the rcd but not sure what the kit does... i no it deletes the cooler and the exhaust from going back into the intake.... but my question is do you take the valve out and block it off some how or does it stay in ... the reason im concerned with this is cause i was told that the egr valve acts like a waste gate so if thats the case i dont want to tear anything else up by doing that unless ther is like an aftermarket waste gate or something i could put on there ...

I have this kit sitting in the garage waiting to go on, just haven't found the time to tear into the truck yet. It does delete the valve too, there is a block off plate for it. Who ever told you it works like a wastegate is wrong. There is no blow off valve or wastegate on a stock 6.0, it just pushes the boost back out the intake which most people refer to as the "turbo-farting" you may have read about on the forums. Also FYI, there's a good chance you're going to get check engine lights with it deleted since you're running the banks stuff.

im actually selling the banks pos to buy the delete kit i keep it on stock i just use it for the guages so im just going to buy a scan guage ll from auto zone and use that.. im not sure what my buddy is thinking on the valve deal maby he thinks its going to plug the hole up solid which is not the case it is just capping it off.. he is a ps mech at a ford dealership and is very good so i trust his judgement but im just trying to clarify some stuff .. im not sure what he is thinking

nothing bad can come of an egr delete as far as i know on a 6.0 being as it's one of their main problems minus head studs, if i were i'd look into those and a custom tuned sct from RCD too

biggest point of doing the delete is to ditch that cooler cause they like to break, a coolant filter is a good idea too because the motors flow a lot of casting debry throughout the coolant which damages such egr cooler, water pump, etc.

The biggest issue with the castings is plugging the oil cooler up. That's what causes flash boiling in the EGR cooler and eventually failed headgaskets. I just put one of the dieselsite coolant filters on my truck a couple weeks ago. Definitely worth the investment.

You can just "block" the cooler by welding freezeplugs into the ends too. It's inexpensive, but works. The cooler can still "fail" that way, but it will just fill with coolant, and then that's it... Might not be the prettiest thing, but will definitely work.

I plan on installing mine this week, I'll get some pics up.

The river city is a full delete kit too, removes the EGR valve, EGR cooler, and comes with the solid up-pipe. I like the FCDP one, but it's not reversible, which I want/need. That price you posted includes the core of a new intake manifold too, so if you sent your stock one back you'd get a good chunk of that back (like $300). Doug @ GoGo has a really nice setup as well. His actually re-routes coolant so it doesn't go through the intake manifold at all, and then machines the coolant lines right off of the intake manifold. Cool stuff. Sinster diesel has a copy of the RCD kit too, same things, and less money than Dougs or Adams. If I didn't have to worry about going back to stock, I'd be all over one of those kits though.

RCD makes a nice kit. I have sold alot of those and the sinister egr deletes. Just make sure on the 05 and up you get a tuner to block the egr codes. Otherwise you will have a check engine light on.

Correct. I have heard of a small amount of 03/04 trucks that throw the code too, and know of one 04 that I physically did an EGR delete on and it threw the code. I've also heard of 05-07 trucks that didn't throw the code either... so safe bet is to just get the SCT and not worry about it. If the CEL doesn't bother you than you don't need to do anything.
