lack of power

I recently had major work done at the dealer, oil cooler and while it was apart, I had them put head studs in. The tech told me everything else looked good. I noticed the truck was a little sluggish off the line, once the turbo spooled up it accelerated hard. Tech stated that was normal, I am skeptical.
I bought the truck because we camp. We recently took our camper on a trip and I was disappointed. This was my first trip. I used to pull the camper with a suburban, it struggled but did it. My camper is about 8500 lbs.
While pulling I noticed the power seemed to be about the same as the suburban. I am confused because the power seems pretty good without the extra weight.
I am not sure where to begin with my troubleshooting.
thank you in advance
Kevin

what is your fuel pressure and boost pressure do you have guages of any sort what mods do you have you need to fill out your sig so we can better help you

Yep, need more info.

You can always step up to an SCT tuner with a custom towing tune. I hate driving these trucks stock, they're gutless. Even just a really mild towing tune will wake it up pretty good when towing, and the transmission tuning is unbelievable. I use Eric from Innovative diesel, he's the man with 6.0's and his transmission tuning is 2nd to none!

No gauges installed yet, only factory. It was showing 20-25psi boost. How is the fuel pressure regulated? Can it be manipulated? Cause one thing I did notice is that no matter how hard the truck was pulling I never saw the cloud of black smoke (not sure if I should though).Does a custom tune void the factory warranty? I used to pull the camper with my suburban and it struggled. The ford seems to struggle just about as much. I pulled the same camper with an 06 duramax and barely realized it was back there.

You wont see any black smoke with a stock truck, it's just not gonna happen. The fuel pressure is regulated by a spring in the fuel bowl. As long as you're maintaining 55 psi or close to that you have no need to upgrade anything fuel wise. You can bump it up, but it's not going to help anything, the only reason for having it that high is to ensure the injectors never get starved for fuel. If that happens, they will not last long at all. They are lubricated with the fuel. Technically yes a tune will void warranty, but so will air filters exhaust and anything else at SOME Dealers. It all depends where you bring it. You can just remove the tune before bringing it in for work... I haven't had any issues yet with getting warranty work.

as long as you take the truck back to stock before you take it in you should be fine, when i had my 05 i had an edge platinum on it for awhile and would just unhook it when i had to take it in, the sct is much better and nicer on the trans

Was the truck always sluggish off the line or just since the tech worked on it? Did they reflash the PCM?

I believe they did reflash the pcm. It seems to be more sluggish now. Once the turbo spools up, I have decent acceleration, not head jerking but decent. Before it was a little head jerking.

It may be the reflash that is cause it then. I went from a older flash to a new one about 6 months ago and liked it but I have also heard complaints about the newer flashes. I think it is all based on what you started with.
