Thinking about getting SCT LIVEWIRE

I am thinking about getting the SCT LIVEWIRE I bought the banks and I am sending it back. I do not know what tunes I should get could you guys help me out?

Most people don't care for the livewire. I would get the sct xcaliber3, analog gauges, and custom tunes. As far as tunes go, I would go with Doug at gogodiesel or Eric with innovative. I've ran DJ's and Spartans as well, but I think those two are the best.

Why do you say many people do not care for the livewire?

I wish I would have just got the X3 and used analog guages. The Livewire is a pain to mount anywhere and with the wires coming out of the bottom always in the way. You have to turn it off and on everytime you start the truck or shut it off. I know that doesn't sound too bad but it gets annoying quick. The egt probe is sold seperate and expensive. My scroll wheel likes to stick in. I think the display is a little boring looking also.

What if you already have the egt probe ran onto a a pillar gauge, do I still have to buy it for the livewire. Another question i have is why do they sell the livewire for more money than the X3, what is the difference between the 2 tuners?

The livewire is mounted on your dash or wherever and displays your trucks vitals. It also can program your truck, thats why the livewire cost more. The X3 can only program your truck. Your pyro probe for your analog guages won't work with the livewire. Thats an additional $200.

Do you have to buy the pyro probe or can you just do away with it for the livewire?

No you don't have to buy it.

No you don't have to use the egt function on the livewire. Unless you want to set limits which I haven't messed with yet. I still don't think I would bother with the livewire if your not going to use the egt function on it. The only nice thing is that its always in the truck and hooked up, but I never change tunes it just stays on the performance tune. I have found the sct egt probe as low as $150 up to $200. I got mine for 150 from a local performance shop.

Here's how I mounted mine. I don't like my view blocked when driving, so I mounted it to the floor. I can still see the readings but the unit is out of the way. It is inconvenient to turn on monitor when you start the truck though. The Livewire does have LED's to warn if you overrun any previous set parameters, so watching the gauge isn't really necessary all of the time. Of course this mounting procedure will only work with an auto-tranny.:tu::c:
