6.0 Fan Shroud
Is the shroud necessary I cut mine off and now am being told it might cause overheating

Its required for correct air flow and cooling system efficiency. Would not recommend its removal.

Any Idea if you can get one from anywhere other than Ford

Need the part that goes behind the fan

6.0 Fan Shroud
I strongly diagree,I have 3 trucks in my fleet that have the fan shrouds removed with no effect on cooling efficiency, just one more "design flaw/overdesign"on the 6.0.

Sorry guys maybe I got the wrong part I am assuming the shroud you are talking about is the big plastic thingy that bolts to the front of engine behind the fan. It is gone from my storm restoration truck ( 06' F450 ) that I some times criss cross NE United States with and we are not having any overheating issues from tis truck or the the other two stake bodies that have them removed.

I am personally at a toss up between building an aluminum split shroud that splits in half (top/bottom, or drivers/passenger), or building an electronic fan setup so make accessibility and more room in engine bay.

There are a few vendors that offer a electric fan kit for the 6.0 motors. Reports have been very positive with drive-ability and functioning yet there are plenty of skeptics. The biggest argument is that the electric fans are not capable of providing the airflow to keep the operating temps in check.

Hate to admit, but my shroud has been sitting on the shelf for a couple of years!
