Just ditch the stock converter and get one made by one of the top 3 makers and you should pick up 20-40HP at the wheel.
My bone stock truck made 123HP and 380TQ at the wheel 9 years ago.
Its well over 400HP now and the converter is one of the best things I purchased for the truck.
