hesitation

I have just bought this 1993 dodge duelly with a 5.9 cummins engine. It only has 37000 miles on it and every thing is just like new. I have a lot of questions but right now I'd like to know why it seems to hesitate a couple of seconds before it accelerates. Now I.m not new to diesels I drove 18 wheelers off and on most of my life. I also had a 7.3 powerstroke for about a hundred thousand miles before a brutal accident. So I do have a general idea how this truck should act and it just don't seem right. Any ideas?

STOCK

These things are gutless stock. I had my pedal to the floor constantly when it was stock, and I wasn't getting any speeding tickets.

That said, there's a lot of things that will make them less-than-gutless. The most common problems are a clogged fuel or air filter or only partial throttle travel.

I have put a K&N air filter in it plus a 4" exhaust a new fuel filter so tell me about partial throttle travel please. thanks for the response

I think what's going on here is turbo lag, they did come with some huhe exhaust housings and spool pretty slow.

It's a combination of turbo lag and having a truck thats stupidly slow stock. With emphasis on stupidly-slow.
