S300 install
Other than a HX 40 down pipe, what is needed to install a S300 turbo for a 2nd gen truck on a IC 1st gen? Can I use the stock IC tubing and boots? What about the intake?? I plan I doing a BHAF but want to make sure I get the right stuff...

it should bolt right up i believe except for the downpipe. but make sure you get the gasket that goes inbetween the exhaust housing and the exhaust manifold. you can NOT get them at a local auto parts store. you have to get it from dodge. i didnt have one when i was putting my hx40 on and it dragged the process out three days to wait for one to come in

also to add to my first post, you going to have to mod your oil return line, the wastegate actuator is in the way of it. i had to cut mine and use a piece of hose in its place |

Thanks, but that is for a 24 valve... I know the basics are the same but I was looking more for specifics (IE things like the non-IC trucks will also need to buy outlet elbow)... At any rate I do appreciate you taking the time to respond and you have a great write up ;) On another note... I got my new turbo today :yeah:, waiting on gauges to arrive and trying to scrounge the funds for the exhaust system... Then things are going to get wicked :jump: |
Flange is a regular T3 turbo Gasket. You can find them at your cummins store (cheaper than dodge) or all over on the net. The V-Band clamp is either the hx40 style (4" ) or the HE style (4.3" or something like that) You can buy those from Source Automotive as well as the flange on the downpipe.
Also Be more specific as to "S300" This turbo has AT LEAST 7 different Comp wheels and 3 Turbine wheels as well as several turbine and compressor housings that I know of. |

Turbo came with a new flange gasket, as well as new oil feed o-ring and oil drain gasket, should be good there... It is my understanding that the "S300" is a chassis that the turbo is built around (kinda like a "fox body"), even with the various configurations and options the basic framework is the same... The turbo I have is a 62/65 |
will we really need to buy the outlet flang, that will SUCK all my piping is custom for my intercooler. looks like ill need new pipes on the turbo side. how much does the elbo cost????? can i get one off another turbo? my taxes should be back soon and i was gonna get an s300 for the 90. but guess i gotta get some more parts first.:argh:

The turbo I have is a 62/65 True, However the variations on connections can be just as varied. But taking into account that it is set up for a 2nd gen, are you sure that all the connections are the same as an hx-35? how much does the elbo cost????? can i get one off another turbo? |
