my head gasket is out and i was thinking about fire ringing it. has anybody done this and how much did it cost. also what all gaskets would i have to replace to change the head gasket.

Is this a daily driver? If so, O-Rings are better.

yea its a daily driver for the most part but i planned on it just being a toy in the future

oringing is better for the street it will set you back 350 or so on machining alsoget a head set it has all your gaskets you will need

i think my shop charges $400 to o-ring or fire ring a 6b head, but from what they say it's better to go with o-ringing if you are going to stay under 70 psi. i would get studs right away if you go that rout. just dont forget to hot retourque the head studs. one of our customers blew out his head gasget after we o-ringed his head and tryed to blame us.... long story short he didn't read the directions for the studs and "forgot" to retourque them hot. just throwen that out there

alrigh i just talked to my teacher at school and he said we could do the machine work in class so i should be able to do it pretty cheap

Has he done them before? Be a bitch to tear up a perfectly good head...

yea we have a special jig for the head that centers over the combustion area, and you need to make sure your depth is right, we surface all the heads to make sure they are flat or you could get hi and low spots, i would be very carefull when you try, i have a junk 2nd gen head we peacticed on first, took 3 holes till we got set up right, but once we got it, it was a breeze. just proceede with caution, i don't want to see your head become scrap metal

if it dose i got a 1990 head for sale hahahahahhah
