Pullin Power

is it reasonably possible to make 800 horse power with a ve? im guessing not but need some input. would it be more cost effective to use 1 or 2 turbos to get there? i think 80-90 psi is the pressure needed but i could be all wrong on that too.

the VE physically cannot pump enough fuel for much over 500 hp...at that you're really pushing it. If you want 800 hp, swap on a shop built and flowed p-pump

Thats not true you can put a whole lot of nitrous on it:lol88:

welderboy250 08-31-2008 09:35 PM

not even 14mm head? how bout the turbos?

mysterync 08-31-2008 10:43 PM

Yea just ask bobby!

2500HeavyDuty 08-31-2008 11:32 PM

80-90 psi would be hard to achieve if you cant make the fuel needed to make that kind of drive, you can juice it.

what have you done to your pump so far

welderboy250 09-01-2008 06:27 AM

actually the truck dont even have a pump on it right now cause i had to borrow it to replace the ailing one one my other truck... but its supposed to have a ve. fuel screw turned to runaway and backed up slightly, aneroid pin ground, clocked, and installed with no plastic spacer at the top, star wheel turned the whole way down, top removed and aneroid arm ground about a 16th". the timing is still set stock cause i dont know how far to change it... on this truck with stock injectors and hx40 i get 35-38 psi. is the head and pistons the same for a first and second gen? how bout the cam? i like first gens and theyre cheap thats y im startin with one.

stkdram55 09-01-2008 07:01 AM

there was a guy down at scheids on the dyno that hit over 500 hp with his first gen, no spray either.

2001shrtbedcummins 09-01-2008 07:34 AM

yea, there's a guy on here I believe goes by the title KTACUMMINS that has gone I think a little over five maybe into the sixes. But I'm telling ya, it can't do it. Nitrous is no good if you're already burning all the fuel you have.

RSWORDS 09-01-2008 09:41 AM

KTA has teh current fuel only record from a VE (with a special built 14mm head) Here is his Info

KTA 627rwhp 1300tq b-1/hx-60 twins, KTA 14mm custom pump with aeromotive a-1000 fuel system and 1/2 lines and in tank pickup, buddha power EDM injectors, ATS exhaust manifold, 5" muffled exhaust, fleetguard paper air filter, custom cylinder head work
KTA 486rwhp 1200 torque same as above less custom 14mm pump
KTA 481rwhp 1081 torque same as above except B-1 only no twins

Everyone is saying that if he would spray it he could get close to 1000hp... I dunno. He has ALOT of time and $$$ in that truck. There is also alot done to it that he wont say.

It can and will be done... Will you be the 1st? :D

C/PRD/ 09-01-2008 02:31 PM

Someone find KTA's dyno video. It's on youtube somewhere but my wirless is so slow I can't find it. He has enough fuel to make easilly 750 on juice and W/M. Heck, he said at 4200RPM he was still making over 400HP. But for overall reliability at 800HP I would run a Good Flowed P-Pump. Just my opinion.

Begle1 09-01-2008 09:53 PM

You could always drop the compression to 9-1 and run alcohol... Just keep the VE pump there as an ignition source...

RSWORDS 09-02-2008 06:26 AM

Here you go... KTA at his finest! And His 1/4 mile times are in teh 13's now... not bad for a work body and shifting a getrag!

BTI 09-03-2008 10:06 PM

That is SWEEEEEEEEEEEET.
I'd love to pull up next to a hopped up ricer with that work body LOL
Can you say sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeper!!!!!
:c: to the owner! Super work!

He said on another site, about a particular instance where a bin door wasn't completely latched and there was an issue between old yellow and a porsche on who was going to lead, that that bin door flew off around 120mph(I think) on the interstate. I can only imagine how fun that would be to drive! :U:

RSWORDS 09-04-2008 04:02 PM

He said he has topped it out around 160 running a vette on the interstate

C/PRD/ 09-05-2008 12:59 PM

Man............that's just freakin flyin in a 20year old truck.......

GO OVRIT 09-06-2008 10:42 PM

KTA set those numbers years ago and nobody has gone by them yet.
If you really want 800, I don't see where it makes much difference which pump you use. It won't be very streetable with a 7100 or a rotory, but it can be done. You're definatley going to want twins over any big single. If you go with a ve its gotta be all out by 2000rpm. P pumps can deal with a little bit slower turbos.

C/PRD/ 09-08-2008 11:13 AM

I personally think there is enough fuel there for another 100HP on spray. But like you said, by 2000RPM or it's over.

welderboy250 09-08-2008 08:31 PM

well i got a 913 p pump and most of the stuff to put it on so i guess ill try it and see how it goes for i get the pump reworked 800 might have been a little bit of a wild goal, i wanna make as much power as possible as cheap as possible and see how far it will go down the track. im thinkin bout tryin a pro52 turbo. guess im gonna have to get some fire rings and head studs too :w2:

GO OVRIT 09-09-2008 10:19 PM

bgilbert has a pretty good deal on a pro52.

welderboy250 09-10-2008 08:40 PM

well i hate to say im gonna have to hold off a little on that stuff till i get some more play money rounded up, oh well. thanks for the input.:c:
