Planning upgrades

My truck is a DD but need to make it be all it can be... So, here is what I am thinking and would like a little feedback. A Steedspeed exhaust manifold with straight port outlet (not angled down like stock 3rd gen) and either a bigger single turbo (prolly Borg Warner) OR a twin set up. Note the truck is not and never will be used for racing, sled pulling, none of that stuff. Not ever.

Also thinking about some 60 or 100 hp injectors (confused about nozzles vs. injectors?) and possibly an upgraded CP3 pump but not sure if I will need that with the bigger injectors (nozzles)? EFI Live tuner and tune. Will need to redo the air filtering to utilize the new turbo(s) location which is higher like the 2nd gen trucks. ARP head studs and changing the freeze plugs in the head to threaded plugs. I already have an Airdog 150 installed with the tank mod. I have lost the muffler but have a stainless 4" system with an Aeroturbine straight-thru muffler (no resonator) and that needs to be installed.

Thinking about a Hamilton cam and better push rods with 150 lb springs. That may come later. I am looking for a boost of up to 600 hp and >1000 ft lbs torque with these up grades. Needless to say, before any of that can happen will have to do something about the transmission which is a stock auto. I have already contacted Jeff Garmon about a stage 2 or 2.5 with triple lock TC, valve body, and all the upgraded internals.

I use my truck for towing my flats boat and fifth wheel trailer, and daily driver. Just want it super strong and reliable. 2006 QCSB. It has air bags on rear axle, Mag Hytek diff covers and deep pan on tranny. I have a tranny temp gauge, boost (40 lb), and exhaust temp gauge already. I run 235/80/17 Michelins and no lift or level. I do have the stabilizer bar installed on the front and have zero death wobble or wandering on the road. That stabilizer bar to keep the steering box nailed down has to be the number one best thing anyone can possibly do to these ram 2500/3500 trucks period. Big tires and lifts are prolly the worst things that can be done to these trucks if you want fuel mileage and reliability. To each his own though...

Do y'all think the above mods will get it to 600 / > 1000? any comments or observations welcome.

That is an awful lot of stuff to only be shooting for 600hp.. I think you should go with a programmer like smarty, edge, or H&S, unless you are just stuck on EFI Live. A built auto trans is a must so make sure that is on top of your list. I would run 90hp nozzles and bigger turbo anywhere from 62-64mm depending on your preference on spool up and such. With those mods you will be between 600-620rwhp and somewhere in the ballpark of 1250rwtq. That's the beauty of CR diesels building power is so easy. I have personally seen the setup above put down 609rwhp and 1264rwtq on a mustang dyno with a smarty for a programmer. :rocking:

Keep with efi and forget the box stuff, People dont understand efi and what its all about so they want to stick with the old $hit . Efi has proven 560+ hp on stock truck with vb and tc ,A arson 3 and 90's will produce over 700 ponies with the right turbos so id say u need to go with the 50 horse nozzles and compound a 475 with your stock turbo and a arson kit ,tc,vb and u should be good.

Spooled05, I am not sure if that was aimed at me.. But, if it was I was just naming the common fairly affordable upgrades that I have seen make 600+ time and time again. I do understand EFI Live, however, I think it is better suited for trucks who run a ton of mods and make crazy power.. Like you for instance, but my goals are small enough (for now) that I can make the power I want from a box just fine. :w2:

Go EFI live and never look back.

Check this spread in Diesel Power Mag. This is the route I would take, maybe some different brands.
