5in exhaust

I got a 5in exhaust on my 05 right ow but i still have the muffler but no cat on it. I made me a delete pipe but im kinda hesitant to put it on because ive heard some people say that itll be really loud but still sound like crap because i have a 7in tip. Any input would be great! :humm:

Straight piped CRs sound horrible IMO. I say don't do it.

city683 10-04-2011 04:36 PM

I think straight pipe on diesels is just sound bad

I run a 5" with muffler (no cat) and I can't imagine taking the muffler out...:s:

I put a 5 inch stainless MBRP on mine with a 5X6 double wall tip and everyone that hears it days its the best sounding 5.9 CR they have heard. Its thoaty and sounds great in my opinion..:tu:

Once you get going down the road at 55 or 60 MPH, its not as loud as you would think. Mine really RAPS pretty loud when I am under a load at about 2200 RPM's though.. I LIKE IT!!!:yeah::yeah:

You will be fine my friend. The turbo it self creates all the back pressure you need.:c:

Thats what i thout, no okw what bout sound difference between the 4" exhause andthe 5", is there a diffeence

H.R.D 10-09-2011 11:59 PM

5" will give you a deeper tone compared to a 4", as far as a performance difference you won't be able to tell from 4-5"

The only reason people go with 5" is for the beautiful noises that it makes. You wont get any power gains over a 4" aftermarket system from the same brand.

My buddy had a 5" on his 06' and it sounded like a friggen jet. He said that the shop did have to hammer a dent into his firewall so the 5" down pipe would fit. I wasnt there so I couldnt tell ya why they had to do it. And my exhaust is still mostly stock. Just missing the cat and the yahoo before me put 6' of flex pipe in its place so I have a saggy exhaust system:dang: I would go out and buy a 5" turbo back system by my wife would definitly know I did it. All my modds so far havent made it taller or louder so she doesnt know about em:w2:

How do you like your twins? And for the install. What all did you have to do/modify to get it all in there. An

stevieotto2 11-09-2011 12:34 PM

I love the twins the boost is just unreal. When i pulled it in July as i was taking off from the line i was at 3100RPM and glanced over and was sitting at 60PSI of boost, after that idk how high it got... i can put a few pics up so u can see them..ill PM you when i get time to take some.
