Leveling Kit

Anybody running the 2" leveling kit by TopGunz? Thoughts?

NadirPoint 07-26-2011 06:55 AM

Death Wobble starter kit.

Is it just this brand, or all leveling kits in general? If not, what's a kit thats good to go? Thanks for any info!

If I understand the terminology, this "leveling kit" you are talking about, basically refers to the pucks or spacers that are put between the springs and the upper shock tower mounts? If so, and that is all that is being done, then none of them are any good, and constitute what I would refer to as "Death Wobble Starter Kits."

OTOH, if the "kit," so to speak, addresses the track bar and control arms as a minimum, I would say minimally acceptable. If it includes springs, arms, shocks, sway bar links or other such related equipment, pitman and basically everything needed to PROPERLY lift the suspension, then I'd say it's good to excellent, depending on quality and manufacturing of the parts.

Yup, I was talking about the spacers....Great Info! Thanks!!

i had the 2.5 level kit from top gunz on my 98 ram and it never gave me the death wobble, but i did get the truck re aligned after i put it in,

I had a top gunz 2" kit in mine and never had issues. But I agree with what NadirPoint is saying, this is basically the cheapest possible way of lifting your truck. There are other components that should be upgraded when installing kit. Most ppl do not put them in and have no problems... but in the long run would be safer if they did install them.

I would say the BARE MINIMUM is at least put an adjustable trac bar in so your axle is at least centered under your truck.... And most likely the one thats in your truck is bad anyways lol

You probably just haven't driven it far enough yet to find out what it does to the front end.

Theres another problem I ran into. With the 2 inch spring spacers As I was turning into my house theres a sharp left turn and I drive off the edge of the driveway. With the wheels cocked full deflection and a bump my break calipre bolt hit the upper spring mount. The non moving one.

i put the level kit on that truck a week after i bought it, i had the truck for 2 years, never had a problem i do agree that changing the track bar is a good idea, i put almost 23,000 miles on that truck in the 2 years i had it, the longest road trip i took it on was to the frorida keys pulling my boat (6400 lbs) which was about a 3 1/2 hour trip one way, 5 or 6 times a year with no problems

would i do the spacers again, no but at the time it was cheap so i bought it, i plan to level my 05 dually but im going to get new coils and track bar n shocks,
