Need a turbo suggestion

Note!: I AM NOT BUILDING A RACE/TOY TRUCK!!! This is my daily driver and tow rig. It pulls a 10k trailer and 4000lb camper up into the woods. It very steep and windy. Please do not give me recommendations to build a drag racer... I have a different car for that.

I am very new to modifying turbo diesels, so please be patient with me. I am at the point where I feel I need a bigger/ more efficiant turbo for the truck detailed in my signature. In a perfect world it would spool faster than stock, give me more power and lower the EGT's by 200+*...

As for future mods, I don't have any planned. I will stick with my stock injectors unless one fails, then I will more than likely upgrade to 50hp injectors. Nothing more.

As a daily driver, I drive the truck aggressively. I'm not drag racing but I drive with a heavy foot. Tuning the ADR to where I like the throttle response gives me more smoke than I would like and when towing, I would like a bit more power for the hills.

I'm thinking of the Killer B turbo but that is based on reviews, not an real knowledge. Any advise you can give me will help!

A thunder 330 turbo would go nice with a set of 50hp or 90hp injectors.

Are you on a tight budget?? If not I would skip the single turbo and do compounds. Lower egts significantly, spools very nice, and you really can't get a better boost setup for everyday driving and towing. Compound turbos aren't only for drag racers and competition...

I'm open to anything... The question would be WHAT compounds!

I would rather not do injectors unless I had to. The Thunder 330 is a 62/74/14, correct? Wouldn't my application be better served with a smaller exhaust wheel? (I'm not challenging you, I really don't know!)

Industrial injection has a kit that uses your stock turbo and an s474. That would work well. And a 62/14 would run cooler than a 62/12 because it gets rid of the exhaust faster, but will spool just a bit slower.

So if I was to run a single, a good all round compromise would be something around 62/68/14? :alone:

As for twins, I would assume the best would be stock over something but I don't know if stock injectors will spin twins... I really know nothing about them.

Yeah a single 62/14 is a good size. As for compounds it doesn't take huge injectors or anything to move em. It would work fine for you just with mild tuning. Reason being your top turbo is going to be either your stock one or a 62 depending on what you want. The exhaust hits the smaller turbo first so it spools right away and gives you the same low end boost as you see with your stock one. From there the exhaust moves down to the large turbo which really doesn't do too much until the top end. But the air outlet of the large turbo is constantly feeding air to the inlet of the small turbo which makes the small turbo spool even faster than it would from the factory (because there is positive air going to the inlet rather than just sucking air straight from a filter like it does from the factory). Simply, If you got a compound kit that uses your stock turbo it will spool faster than it does right now for that reason. But it will run bout 200 degrees cooler and top out at 55-60 psi

Look into a smarty or smarty junior. I ran that towing 15k with the stock turbo no worries and it ran great! But if you want to build something twins are the way to go but you will need a programmer to optimize them!

I have a Quadzilla Adrenaline w/ PV2 on the truck that I am more than happy with. I don't see any reason why the ADR wouldn't be able to handle twins... :c:

There are a few good towing twins on ebay also Check with some of the venders here also!
