Smarty SSR tuning

I just got the SSR I haven't made it to the dyno yet. I have been running the similar to tnt r # 7 tune and don't like it. the truck gets really hot (high egts). I have 125 hp sticks. bag of parts. super phat shaft 66, air dog, afe intake and 4" exhaust. I am afraid of changing too much on timing due to my lack of experience with custom tuning. Hopefully vinny will chime in here. the truck is an 04.5

What are you running for timing currently?

You can change it small amounts at a time and listen for timing rattle. if you hear a slight rattle pull some timing out.

With bigger sticks you shouldn't need to add too much timing though. Thats the big advantage of sticks. You should be able to shorten the pulse width down and take a little bit of timing OUT of it and still see lower EGT's.

I specialize on Duramax's for now until EFI is released for the Cummins, but diesel combustion is diesel combustion.

That being said, I don't get worried about timing until I am over 25 degrees.

This where EFI is going to shine!

LLT : 15 - HLT : 33 | LLD : 30 HLD : 15 | LLRP : 50 HLRP 50 . the truck is a reg. cab with a 7 in stack and is extremely loud in the cab. I don't think I will be able to hear timing rattle.
