Ams Oil question

I want to switch to it now that I'm over a 100 thousand, I knew on my gas engine I ran it till it got dirty and it would all drain out and the new stuff was clean for 6 months or longer if I was mostly on the highway.

So how do you know how long to run it in a diesel?

Are you running a bypass filter?

If so you could go 25,000 miles as long as you're testing the oil with Blackstone and replacing the oil filter per the recommendation in the owners manual.

Used Oil Analysis (UOA)...Blackstone, Amsoil, Schaeffer, and Caterpillar (to name a few) offer this service.

I've ran regular old Rotella 15w40 CJ-4 25k miles without it showing anything bad. Although it looks bad, the Cummins is pretty easy on oil unless you've modded.

No by pass and not mods yet, and I've been running delo in it

If you are over 100k, I would not run it more than 15k without oil analysis. You might even consider running the first one a little shorter.

I have run Premiun Blue by Valvoline from day one and it has alway got a good report from Blackstone the TBM has always been 9.3 up to 10.0 so I will stay with PB.

I been running the Delo and been doing good with it, but I know the Ams oil gave me another 2 mpg in the DAK, it ran a little cooler and after 117 thousand on it and the engine still looked great inside with no ware showing at all.

I didn't know if it was as good to the diesel, but I like to get a lot of miles out of my truck with no trouble.

Thanks for the replies

With the diesels its just as good, but they have to be broke in first. If you're going to run AMSOIL do it after you have 25,000 miles on the engine .... I'll probably be switching my '06 over this year since we're over 57k miles now.
