Flywheel Machining

I ordered a CON OFE for my NV5600 truck. SB says to have the flywheel resurfaced, and with the pilot bearing upgrade I'll need to enlarge the hole.
I plan on doing the swap myself and I am planning on two days (I figure I will install the AirDog and diff cover all at the same time).
I have access to a lift and tall transmission jack so it should be fairly easy, but I have to have the machine work done on the flywheel.

How much should this work cost at an automotive machine shop? If I walk in, how long will it take them? Should I call before I start the removal so they know I'm coming down? Will I need shims made to correct for whatever material they remove?
Thanks

heres what I now bout it

the flywheel isnt flat............dont let any ol machinest do this cuz its different and he could screw it up

yes the pilot bearing will need machined to recieve the new pilot bearing

I dunno bout cost but should be say 2 hrs worth

no shims needed

you have specific instructions that came with yer SB clutch.....make sure to get them to the mackinest and make damn sure he understands them

a good clutch and joint shop shouldnt be no more than a 3 hour turn around unless they are swamped, probably wont cost anymore than 100-150 at the most.....

Is replacing mine this week end, bought a new flywheel, is going to sell mine after it is resurfaced, do it often on tractor flywheels.

That long huh? More than I figured. I was figuring an hour at shop labor prices. Oh well, its only money.

Mine cost $65. Don't let them "resurface" it. It needs to be ground. The stocker has a taper to it that needs to be taken out is all. I agree, take it to a place that knows what they're doing. Southbend has an installer lookup on their web site. I would look there first for a guy near you.
