installing a fass lift pump

hi,i have a Fass inline lift pump to install and was wondering if the location along the frame matters.can i put it close to the fuel tank or closer to the eng.thanks

cummins army 03-20-2011 10:40 AM

when i installed my airdog on my last truck i put it as close to the tank as possible the reason for this is a pump is meant to push not pull makes it easier on the pump so it will last longer

thank you cummins army, that will give me more room to drill the frame to mount the bracket.

Red_Rattler 03-20-2011 01:53 PM

dont drill into the frame... They make the setup so you dont have to do that

hi red,the instructions say to drill frame to mount a bracket.do these pumps need to sit virtigo or can i install horizontal.both ports are at one end of the pump

Red_Rattler 03-20-2011 03:11 PM

wow, that sucks... both my airdogs came with nice brackets. Should be mounted so the filters point down

radar 03-20-2011 03:21 PM

its just a inline ddrp04 with out the fiters.
i also sent you a pm

ok i think im going to mount it by the tank.i will have to cut a section of steel fuel line to run rubber hose to the pumps in and out ports.my concern is using hose clamps on the cut metal ends.will the pressure push the hose off?

coors_man_2005 03-20-2011 06:22 PM

i wouldnt cut and splice it in just buy the hose kit that runs from tank to the engine then you will have bigger lines from tank to the filter my thought

Red_Rattler 03-20-2011 08:45 PM

Pm sent back, the way the kit is setup is fine and will work like its suppose to, I wouldnt worry about relocating and reengineering what they already tested and made work.

the spot by the tank gives me more room,(cant get my drill in where they sugest to mount it) i will still be able to use the quick connect thay supplied, just have to cut out a 8" section of fuel line.i can wire a longer harness to reach the oem plug.just wondering if it makes a differance with this pump(DDRP04 fass pump)if it needs to be up at the eng or can be at the tank.
