Banks intake with a dry filter?

First of all im wondering what everyone thinks of the banks ram air intake and if anyone has ever installed a dry filter in this intake system. i know banks doesnt make one but maybe there is a different ones that fits?

Just measure the opening where the filter would go, and cross reference from there. You should be able to easily find a suitable replacement once you know the tube size.

And dry filters are the only way to go, IMHO.

Anyone have opinions of the banks intake vs any other intake system?

Maybe its just me but it seems like most guys like the S&B dry intake better than the Banks.

i noticed that there is a lot of people including me that like a dry filter but it was mentioned to me that if you look at most off road vehicles - cars, trucks, 4 wheelers ect. they are all running oiled filters. so they must be on there for a reason.

Run a clean, white rag down the inside of an intake tube where someone has used an oiled air filter.

What you'll see is why I don't run them .... a combination of oil and dirt. The oil is there to "help" filter the air but it ends up inside the intake tube and on the impellers of the turbo.

And think about it, what comes after the intake tube? The turbo. Where do you think that dirt and oil mixture ends up going? Yep.

also a good point. what intake are you running marineone?

Running stock with the new Cummins 4 inch pleated filter that offers 675 CFM with better than 98.7% filtration. I can't see doing a CAI yet until I turn the power up.

Both my trucks are stick under the hood, except the resonator on my '08 (Aero Muffler 4040XL) that I put on over the summer. Has a bit deeper growl to it, and I'm taking it on a road trip this summer for fuel economy tests.

I had the AEM Brute Force on my '03 and boy could I hear the turbo sing with that on, and it was a pretty good filter, too.
