Do's & Donts on tranny rebuild

Time has come to rebuild the Tranny 2004.5 Dodge 2500 4x4 Bully Dog Triple Dog GT Diesel Downloader I do pull a travel trailer few times a year for various camping/hunting trips looking to upgrade to a 35-38 ft 5th wheel...
So what is some good advice on a rebuild what do you recommend or shy away from

What is a fair price range on a rebuild

Thanks in advance

Just a few questions first..... Do you plan to go any bigger with the truck as in turbo, injectors and so on..... Then do you ever plan on taken her to the strip or pulling with it??? if not I would do just a heavy duty rebuild with billet parts, apply leaver accumulators and bands. No need for billet shafts if you don't plan on going any bigger but if it were me I would do an billet input shaft just for peace of mind there only 650-700 extra and if you are ganna get someone in the tranny anyways might as well but not a need if you don't plan on going any bigger.... you could probably get away with a good single disc tourqe converter from a reputable company like Georend bros. Or BD . I would get a shift kit rather then a pre built valve body just for the fact that a pre built is just that you get what you get, where as a putting in a shift kit whom ever puts your tranny together can kinda set the shift firmness and shift points to your likings and will save you a few hundred bucks:tu:.... As far as who to build the tranny ask around I'm sure there's a mopar fan that owns a tranny shop around you. the tranny that the 48re is based off of have been around for a long time and I know any reputable tranny shop around you have done a few in there day.. I was at the race track when I found the guy to rebuild mine and as we were talking he said " see that yellow duster I did the tranny in it" I watched it launch and as it ran I knew this guys tranny was going in my truck... Good luck to you and if you have any more questions just ask:c:

Do's - Do go to Goerend and have no worries
Don't's - Don't go with a cheap rebuild.

Going cheap will only cost you more in the long run. Do it once and do it right.

When I had mine rebuilt last fall I had Dave send me everything that he would put in one he would build... And just had my tranny guy build it.. and hasn't missed a lick. Only thing I would have done is a little less stall but it helps the turbo spool better so that's a plus with a higher stall.

All of this above, Call Dave. Hw might be a tad hard to get ahold of because he does still work in the shop but he WILL get you exactly what you need. Be 100% honest with him and he wont try to sell you stuff you don't need, just everything you need to have a tranny PERFECT for you truck.
