Smarty Jr. Software versions

We received and installed the Smarty Jr. on my brother's truck (in signature) a week ago. First impressions are good. We went straight for the 100 hp tune and have been impressed. Mileage seems to be up a tad, it builds power much earlier in the RPMs, and EGTs are down ~100*. One thing we are impressed with is the lack of smoke. For the most part, the 100 hp tune seems to be pretty clean. It will only produce a slight haze under full throttle. Which is a good thing because we wanted to have horsepower in disguise because all of the locals just HAVE to roll the smoke when they play. We like to have the horsepower but blend in. We have caught a few Duramax and Powerstroke guys off guard with it. :rocking:

Our question is this, is the new 5.12 software a cleaner tune than previous Smarty Jr. software versions? It seems that the previous Smarty Jr. tunes produced much more smoke. We were wanting to know if there were benefits to the 5.12 software besides less smoke. Obviously, on an otherwise stock truck, a lack of smoke is a good thing (no fuel being wasted) but we were hoping for the ability to play with tailgaters when we need to and blend in the rest of the time.

Based on my observations, the latest software is a LOT less smokey...I had my JR for about 1.5 years before updating it. I'm really liking the newer software.

I could blacken a highway with ease on the old software, and while I can still force it to do that...it is a lot harder to do, and I don't find myself fogging the guy behind me from every light. I also found that by setting the TM to "stock" on the 70HP tune, you can't even tell your running a programmer until you dip into the throttle...makes it VERY nice for slippery roads.
