Someone else said that too about liking the 5" straight pipe. Now that I think about that, I know my boyfriend has 5" straight pipe. It does sound different but not exactly what I was looking for.
It's the price that's insane for some pipe...

If yall have sound/video clips of yalls, please post them up if yall can. I've seen YouTube enough and obviously, not all people are straight forward with what they have and/or don't even know what they have.

Mine with the muff all 4" with 6" tips at high idle. good sounding setup for me, even though the truck is straight piped now. Flipping the muffler does work and the drone isnt that bad.

I agree, flip the muffler around. I have done that for several customers and it is a night and day difference. Facing the louvers towards the back of the truck will make it a lot throatier. I am running the MBRP muffler on my 2003 cummins because with it straight piped it was way to doney while towing.

I tried the MBRP muffler both ways and I actually have my louvers facing forward because I like it throaty but don't want it loud at all.

and also the muffler is doing what it is supposed to do--muffle. take the muffler off

Yeah, I figured that but I was looking for a deeper sound. I bought a muffler for my other truck and it made a deeper sound. I know not all trucks and mufflers are the same but you might see where I'm getting at.

yea i see what your trying to achieve, i would say dont give up on the muffler though just try different pipe maybe even a bigger downpipe. like dawg said mandrel bent pipe is a bit different sounding than stock and bigger will definitely produce a different sound:tu:

Going from stock straight pipe to a 5" MBRP kit on my truck gave it a lower, deep sound, and significantly reduced the cab drone. I understand we have different engines, so the results may not be the same.

I wish I would of seen the prices of FBD before I bought the the MBRP muffler only...their 5" turbo back exhaust is about $319. I thought Farmboy's diesel was just a store/website (didn't know they had their own stuff).

I'm gonna wait and keep looking to make sure I'm gonna a deeper, louder sound before I buy. I'm about to blow money on tint Thursday but I'm still waiting on the check from the truck I auctioned off 2 weekend's ago, so maybe by Christmas, I'll make my mind up.

But, if any of yall are running FarmBoy's Diesel 5" TB exhaust with or without the muffler, is it only loud when you're near the back of the truck or can you hear the difference when inside or in the front of the truck?

Red_Rattler 11-15-2010 02:43 PM

Your correct it is just a store/website. He just adds FBD to things to make himself cool? I dunno but everything u saw that said FBD isn't his someone produced it for him to sell. Ask for a price quote with our vendors and I think you'll find alot better service and overall buying experience with our guys. Jmo...

Before shopping for another exhaust, have you flipped that muffler around yet?

GuyWithA24Valve 11-15-2010 03:34 PM

I put the MBRP 4 inch turbo back exhaust on my truck back in December. I have the muffler flipped so that the louvers are facing the rear of the truck. I love the deep throaty sound that it has. It definitely is loud too, going down our main street in town sounds amazing! There is some cab drone, but its not annoying. It sounds good.

!! We took the MBRP off tonight. I bought 39" of 4" exhaust pipe for $18 yesterday and then put that in place of the muffler and NOW I got the sound I've been wanting. I'm so excited!
I can quit looking at 5" turbo-back exhaust (for now) and save some money.
I just got my tint done today too. Once I get those rims changed, it'll be perfect.
I finally took a http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x...9/DSC06947.jpgpicture of the truck:

Thanks for yalls help :)
