Edge Juice W/A crank, crank, crank

I noticed that if I wait til the Juice boots up the engine doesn't fire right away and it cranks a lot longer. If I don't wait and start it right away she fires right up.
Should I be concerned with this? Anyone else run into this?

It's set on level 3 LBF 3

Longhorn 03-23-2007 05:15 PM

Hut,

Ive run the Juice on a couple trucks now, and never had an issue like this. I am running the EZ on my 06 and no problems, but I am not sure if you should be concerned or not....I doesnt sound like it should do that though. I have a direct line to Edge, I will make an inquiry for you and get back to ya!

Hut 03-23-2007 06:37 PM

Thnx like I said if I start right away it fires quick but if the juice beats the grid heaters it seems to crank longer. I suppose it could be something else that the juice is accentuating. I was thinking poor fuel or fuel filter but it seems like if the filter was bad it would start quick then struggle after it uses the fuel up. I'm putting a new filter in this weekend so I'll see what it does.

Longhorn 03-23-2007 07:24 PM

Help me understand something Hut...you say before the juice starts up, but im confused...the juice should be active as soon as you turn your key.

Can you elaborate a bit please?

Hut 03-23-2007 08:23 PM

It seems like if I wait until the attitude starts (the screen starts to display correctly) it takes longer to fire but then again maybe it's not that at all and is more of a random thing. I started noticing a couple weeks ago, right after I installed the edge stuff

cummin_un_glued 04-01-2007 04:30 AM

hut, do you have the turbo timer turned on?

Hut 04-01-2007 10:39 AM

Yes I have it set to wait until 350F for shutdown.
I did change the fuel filter last weekend and it has only done the long crank time thing once out of about 20 some odd times.

cummin_un_glued 04-01-2007 02:47 PM

mine was doing the same thing as yours and i got to noticing that if i turned the juice down to stock before i shut the truck off that it would still do it just not as often....but i was talking to one of my friends about it and he said he had ran into the same problem on another truck and he had called edge about it i belive and he as me if my turbo timer was on which it was just like yours set at 350 and he told me that was my problem so i turned it off and havnt had the problem but once since....but my truck done it when it was stock too, but turnin the turbo timer off really helped it i can leave my juice turned up now without the long crank

Hut 04-01-2007 03:00 PM

cummin_un_glued,

Thanks for the reply, I think I;ll shut my turbo timer off and shut it off manually for awhile and see how that goes.
I was also thinking about going through and unplugging/reconnecting everything just in case it might be a high resistance connection somewhere but not sure. I was pretty cautious about that at the time of install. Other than a long crank time once in awhile everything seems to be in order.

cummin_un_glued 04-01-2007 10:21 PM

yeah if that dosnt totally fix it then your truck may be like mine and just do it on its own and it not being the juice that is causing the long crank

i know there are some reflashes for the 06's but i havnt heard of one for the long crank yet if i ever do hear of one i'm takin mine in to get it

Hut 04-01-2007 11:28 PM

To me it just seems like it started after I installed the juice but may or not be related. Even this winter when it was 28 below zero it fired right up for me.
We'll see how it does now.

JMalone 04-02-2007 12:42 PM

Weird... I just put mine in, but I haven't noticed that. I wait until the Attitude gauges display and then start, but I can't tell any difference in the amount of "crank" time...

Mine to having the same thing happen to me will try the turn to stock before shutoff method and see if it works.

Well today when I got off work I went to start it and it fired right up but The Edge was reset and I had to hit enter for it to start just like day 1. The settings went back to the factory defaults. I reset everything and headed to the house. Maybe that cheezy fuse adapter is causing high resistance or something? I'll have to contact Edge (after I give it the once over) most likely.

cummin_un_glued 04-03-2007 06:41 PM

mine has done that reset several times hut i figured that it was just my connection there at the fuse tap, i never have got the fuse to go all the way back down in the socket, but keep us posted on what edge says about it please i'm curious about this one

Hut 04-03-2007 08:46 PM

Alright I'll let ya know. I'll probably call this Friday as i don't get a signal from where I work.

SuperTrucker 04-05-2007 12:59 PM

I have had mine on for right at two years now as of the end of March. No problems starting or anything. The thing that worries me is when I go all the way up in rpms, mine blows a heckuva cloud of black smoke then goes back to a stream of almost black. BUT, I am sending mine off today, just as soon as I unhook all of it, to get the hot tuning installed with all the upgrades that they offer.

staarma 04-08-2007 06:28 PM

Hut, if your Attitude went back to the startup screen then the firmware for the processor had to reset for some reason. You will more than likely need to send it back to Edge for a reflash. Mine did the same thing one day when it wouldn't start. The Attitude went back to the stratup screen and I had to send it in. That's when I got the Hot turned on. So far so good. I don't know where you're located at but I'm in Belgrade. You could stop by and compare if you like to see how mine acts as a gauge to how yours should if you like. Either way, I would make the call to Edge.

Hut 04-09-2007 12:24 AM

Thanks for the offer Staarma I am actually close by in Manhattan.

I called edge Friday morning and they are sending me a new attitude monitor with return shipping for the one I have now. He said sometimes the longer crank times happen and is part of changing the fueling but the random resetting is a fixable problem. They seem to have very good customer service at Edge.

staarma 04-09-2007 09:43 AM

I have been impressed with their CS at Edge as well. Hopefully the new Attitude will fix the problem for you. Keep us posted.

Hut 04-15-2007 01:05 PM

I installed the new attitude monitor (manufactured 3/23/07) and shipped the other one back. So far so good. Everything has been working great the past couple days since then.

staarma 04-16-2007 10:15 AM

Cool, glad it's fixed. Knock on wood.:da:
